Platts Wins MAC Championship In 100 Backstroke

Ypsilanti, Mich. – Daisy Platts broke the school and pool record to become the Mid-American Conference champion in the 100 backstroke Friday. The Falcons sit in eighth place after day two of the three-day event, hosted by Eastern Michigan. Friday saw the conclusion of seven swimming events.
Sitting at 168.5 points, BGSU remains in striking distance of Toledo (180 points), Eastern Michigan (204 points) and Ball State (213 points). Akron leads with 506 points but Buffalo is right behind at 494. Miami sits in third at 311.5 and Ohio is fourth with 262.

BGSU will return to action for day three, the final day, of the MAC Championships Saturday beginning with prelims at 10:30. Finals begin at 6 p.m.

- Daisy Platts continued her winning form, twice breaking the pool record in the 100 backstroke Friday, doing so in the morning prelims and then again in finals. She swam a school-record time of 52.39 seconds in the finals to become a back-to-back MAC champion in the vent.
- In the 200 medley relay the team consisting of Platts, Taylor Harris, Lauren Sullivan, and Anna Eriksson placed fifth with a time of 1:41.61.
- Lauren Sullivan placed fourth in the consolation finals of the 100 backstroke with a time of 55.53.
- Livia Castro placed sixth in the B final of the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:51.98.
- Taylor Harris tied for sixth in the consolation final of the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:04.22.
- Ava Vial was seventh in the B final of the 400 IM with a time of 4:27.69.
- Anna Eriksson swam in the B final of the 100 butterfly and placed seventh with a time of 55.38.
- In the 800 freestyle relay the team of Castro, Maddy Andrews, Kellie House, and Karen Krosky placed eighth with a time of 7:33.36
