Brenton Mills Joins Bowling Green Men’s Basketball
April 23, 2021 | Men's Basketball
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University men's basketball program and head coach Michael Huger have announced the signing of Brenton Mills. Mills, a 6-foot-3 guard, played his first two seasons of college basketball at Binghamton University. Mills, who is immediately eligible with three seasons of eligibility, averaged 13.9 points per game in 2020-21 to lead the Bearcats.
"I'm thrilled to add Brenton Mills to our team," said Coach Huger. "Brenton is a well-rounded player that can score in a variety of ways. While earning All-Conference honors at Binghamton, Brenton showed that he is a two-way player and an elite athlete. From day one, he should be one of the best outside shooters in the MAC and a matchup nightmare for opposing teams. With multiple years of eligibility, Brenton will quickly become a fan favorite and a staple of our backcourt. My favorite thing about Brenton is his high character. He will represent BGSU on and off the court in a first-class manner. Welcome to our family, Brenton."
One of the best three-point shooters in the country a season ago, Mills ranked second in the America East with a 40.2 (33-of-82) three-point percentage. Mills drilled at least one triple this season in 14-of-16 games, while connecting on multiple three-pointers in 10 ballgames. The native of Allen, Texas played 16 games for Binghamton in 2020-21, making 15 starts and bringing home Third Team All-America East honors. Mills scored in double figures 13 times as a sophomore, including three 20-plus point efforts.
Mills earned America East All-Rookie Team honors as a freshman in 2019-20, as he started all 29 games and averaged 9.7 points per contest. In his two seasons at Binghamton, Mills registered 134 rebounds (3.0 RPG) and 64 assists (1.4 APG).
MILLS ON JOINING THE FALCONS
"I chose BG because of the amazing coaching staff and how they made me feel at home right away. I loved the culture of the program and what they had to offer and it's a great academic school for me, as well. I'm looking forward to growing a great relationship with my teammates and coaches, while working hard and having fun throughout this process. I am excited to be out there competing next year for a MAC Championship with this team and can't wait to start."
