Women’s Cross Country Set to Compete in Paul Short Run

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University women's cross country team continues their season on Friday, Oct. 1, when they compete in the 46th Paul Short Run in Bethlehem, Pa. The meet, hosted by Lehigh University, will be the Falcons' third of the season.
Paul Short Run
The Paul Short Run will take place on Friday, Oct. 1, on the Murray H. Goodman Campus of Lehigh University. The Falcons will compete in the Gold Division 6k race, which begins at 11:45 a.m., with an awards ceremony to follow at 12:45 p.m.

Against the Field
The women's Gold 6k will feature 40 teams, with Bowling Green competing as the lone representative of the Mid-American Conference and Great Lakes Region. Joining the Falcons are the hosts, Lehigh, and two nationally ranked teams in #12 Northern Arizona and #15 Georgetown.
Last Time Out
The Falcon women earned a sixth-place team score out of 21 teams in the Spartan Invitational on Sept. 17. Sydney Niekamp finished 25th overall out of 251 runners in the event, and Kailee Perry placed 33rd in her first race of the 2021 season.
Falcon Women 14th in Regional Rankings
Bowling Green remains at #14 in the Great Lakes Region for the third week in a row. The Falcons are one of five Mid-American Conference teams in the rankings, which include Toledo (7th), Miami (10th), Akron (12th), and Eastern Michigan (15th).

The men's cross country team will participate in the Live in Lou Cross Country Classic in Louisville, Ky., on Saturday, Oct. 2. The men's Blue Division 8k event will begin at 10:45 a.m.
Following this weekend's events, the men's and women's cross country teams will return home on Saturday, Oct. 16, for the Falcon Invitational. The meet will take place at the Bowling Green XC Course, with the men running in the Bob Rothermel 8,000m event at 11 a.m. and the women competing in the Steve Price 6,000m event at 12 p.m.
