Electric Falcon Offense Set To Clash With Stingy Kent State Defense Saturday At Stroh

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University men's basketball program will play their second straight home game at the Stroh Center, hosting Kent State on Saturday (Jan. 27). The game is set for a 5:00 p.m. tip-off and will mark the 10th MAC game of the season for BGSU. The game between the Falcons and Golden Flashes will be available to stream on ESPN3. Fans can also tune in to the action via radio on WFRO Eagle 99. A live stat link will be provided by bgsufalcons.com with live updates available on Twitter (@BGSUMHoops).Â
BGSU and Kent State will send different approaches to the court. The Falcons enter with the sixth highest scoring offense in the country, averaging 83.0 points per game. As for Kent State, they head into the contest with the second-best defense in the MAC, ranked 32nd in the country, while giving up just 62.5 points per game this season.Â
The game between Bowling Green and Kent State will be the first of two games between the two teams over an 11-day span. The Falcons lead the all-time series 89-78, including being 52-26 when hosting, but the Golden Flashes have had the advantage of late. Kent State has won the last four meetings with the last Bowling Green win coming on March 1, 2019 at the Stroh Center by a score of 77-72.Â

Regardless of vaccination status, all guests, staff, and vendors will be required to wear a face covering while in the Stroh Center. Fans are not required to show proof of vaccination to enter the Stroh Center, but face coverings – covering the nose and mouth – are required for all fans as they watch the game from their assigned seat and enter, exit, and move around. Children 2 and younger will not be required to wear a face covering. If spectators are unable to wear face coverings, they are encouraged not to attend games in-person for the sake of their health and the health of others.

Going Against The Golden Flashes
Kent State enters the game against the Falcons being winners in three of their last four with wins over Akron (67-55), Eastern Michigan (56-47) and Western Michigan (75-64) with a loss to Buffalo (64-51) mixed in. The Golden Flashes hold a 10-9 record overall while being 5-4 in conference play. Individually, Sincere Carry leads the way for KSU, averaging 17.1 points per game while playing 36.6 minutes per game.Â
Gordon Goes Off
Myron Gordon posted his best game of the season against Eastern Michigan on Tuesday (Jan. 25), scoring a season-high 21 points off the bench. Gordon is the seventh different Falcon to log a 20-point game this season, joining Daeqwon Plowden, Joe Reece, Trey Diggs, Samari Curtis, Chandler Turner and Isaac Elsasser. Bowling Green is now tied with Temple, Kansas City, Seton Hall and South Dakota State for the most 20-point scorers in the country this season.
Getting To The Free Throw LineÂ
The Falcons went 26-of-32 at the free throw line against Eastern Michigan, tying the season-high for free throws made and setting a new season-high for free throws attempted. On the year, Bowling Green has made 310 free throws as a team, leading the MAC and the 14th-most in the country. The story is similar for attempts, having 406 this season to lead the MAC and be 26th in the nation.Â
Closing Out Games
This season the Orange and Brown are 9-1 when they hold the lead with five minutes remaining in the game and hold the same record, 9-1, when leading with two minutes left. This has been a staple during the Huger Era at Bowling Green. Over Huger's tenure, BGSU is 90-10 when leading with five minutes to play and 97-7 when being ahead with two minutes left in the game.Â
