SOUTH BEND, IND. - The Bowling Green State University men's basketball program will conclude their four-game road trip with the fourth and final stop being against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Tuesday (Nov. 22). The game is currently set for a 6:30 p.m. tip inside Purcell Pavilion. The contest will be available to watch on the ACC Network. A live stat link will be provided at bgsufalcons.com with live updates available on Twitter (@BGSUMHoops).Â
Tuesday's contest between the Falcons and Irish will mark the eighth meeting all-time and the first since the 1970-71 season. Notre Dame has hosted the last two meetings and have won the last four games between the two programs. The Falcons have tallied two wins in the series, coming less than a month apart. The Falcons won in Bowling Green on Feb. 18, 1963 before beating Notre Dame in the NCAA Tournament just three weeks later.Â
A Bowling Green Win Would …Â
Focusing On The Fighting IrishÂ
Notre Dame will host the Falcons with an undefeated record on the season, standing at 4-0. The Fighting Irish are coming off a 66-65 win over Lipscomb with wins against Radford, Youngstown State and Southern Indiana. Notre Dame enters with five players averaging double-digit points, being led by Nate Laszewski with 19.0 points per game to go along with 10.3 rebounds per game to average a double-double. Only six players for Notre Dame have played in all four games. Those six have accounted for 314 of Notre Dame's 315 points this season.Â
Ayers Continues Hot Start
Leon Ayers III has had a strong start to his BGSU career, leading the Falcons in scoring in each of the first four games of the season. Ayers has tallied two 20-point games on the offensive end, including a career-high 26 in the win against Oakland. Through the first four contests, Ayers is averaging 20.5 points per game as well as 6.0 rebounds per game. Ayers has also concluded three of the Falcons' four games with a shooting percentage of 50% or higher.Â
Consistency Key For CurtisÂ
Samari Curtis has filled the stat sheet for the Falcons early in the season. Curtis has logged double-digit points in each of BGSU's first four games, averaging 13.8 on the season, while leading the Orange and Brown in assists each game as well. Through the first four games, Curtis is averaging just shy of five assists per contest with a season-high seven in the win over Oakland. Dating back to last season, Curtis has registered double-digit points in nine of the last 10 regular season games, averaging 14.4 points per game over that stretch.Â
Results In ReboundingÂ
The Falcons are 2-0 this season when outrebounding their opponent but are 0-2 when being outrebounded by the opposition. Bowling Green is averaging 38.5 rebounds per game through the first four games of the season. Rashaun Agee and Leon Ayers III lead the way with 24 rebounds each. The two are tied for 15th in the MAC for rebounds per game, averaging six per contest. The Falcons are one of seven teams in the conference with multiple players inside the Top 20 for rebounds per game. Ball State leads the way with four.Â
