A Bowling Green Win Would …Â
Curtis Picking Up Where He Left OffÂ
Samari Curtis began the 2022-23 season similarly to how he finished the 2021-22 campaign for the Falcons. Curtis led the Falcons in scoring during both of BGSU's exhibitions this year, tallying 17 points against West Virginia and 14 against Mansfield. Curtis closed out last season with five double-digit scoring games in the last six contests. Over the two exhibitions, Curtis was also 10-for-11 from the free throw line and 3-for-6 from behind the three-point arc.Â
Agee Starting BGSU Career StrongÂ
Rashaun Agee joined the Falcons ahead of the 2022-23 season after spending the 2021-22 campaign with Casper College, where he was named First-Team All-Conference, First-Team All-Region and a NJCAA Division-1 All-America Nominee. With the Falcons, Agee tallied a double-double against Mansfield with 13 points and a team-high 13 rebounds. Agee narrowly missed a double-double in the first game as well, finishing with nine points and a team-high 10 rebounds.Â
Presence In The PaintÂ
The Falcons have established a strong presence in the paint through the first two exhibitions of the season. In the exhibitions, the Falcons tallied 80 of their 136 points in the paint, accounting for 58.8% of BGSU's offensive production. Senior forward Gabe O'Neal was a big part of that success, tallying 10 points in each contest.Â
Huger At HomeÂ
Head Coach Michael Huger is one of just 49 Division-I head coaches leading his alma mater. Entering his eighth season at the helm of the Orange and Brown, Huger has tallied 115 wins for the Falcons with 66 coming inside the Stroh Center. Huger has a 66-39 record when playing at home, good for a .629 winning percentage. Under Huger, the Falcons have registered at least nine home wins in a season five times and went a combined 27-2 at home over the 2018-19 and 2019-20 campaigns.
Falcons Getting TallerÂ
The Orange and Brown will enter the 2022-23 season with more height than the team has had in the past. BGSU's roster will include seven players who stand 6-foot-7 or taller, making up about half of the roster. The seven 6-foot-7+ players will be the most rostered by the Falcons during the Coach Huger era as well as during the history of the Stroh Center. The last time the Falcons had seven or more players at 6-foot-7 or taller was the 1996-97 season when the Falcons had seven and finished the year with a 22-10 record, winning the MAC Regular Season title.Â
