Bowling Green Set For Weekend Battle With Buffalo

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University volleyball program will take to the road for the rest of the regular season with three matches remaining on the schedule. The Falcons are currently set to face the Buffalo Bulls this weekend, taking on UB on both Friday (Nov. 11) and Saturday (Nov. 12). From there it will be a quick turnaround around the MAC with a slate of Wednesday (Nov. 16) matches to close out the regular season. The Falcons will conclude the regular season against the Miami RedHawks before preparing for the MAC Tournament, which is currently set to begin on Nov. 20.
The Falcons lead the all-time series against Buffalo with a record of 36-10 over the 46 meetings all-time. Bowling Green is currently in the midst of a five-match win streak against Buffalo, including having won 11 of the last 13 matchups. In addition to the five-match win streak, the last seven BGSU victories against Buffalo have come via 3-0 sweep. All-time, the Falcons are 15-6 when facing Buffalo away from Bowling Green, including wins in the last two matches played in Buffalo.
Battling Buffalo
The Buffalo Bulls will enter the weekend with a 17-10 record on the season while being 9-6 within the Mid-American Conference. At home, Buffalo has tallied a 9-2 standing, including five straight wins at home. Overall, Buffalo has tallied six straight wins, picking up a pair of sweeps against Kent State, topping Eastern Michigan in four sets, besting Central Michigan in five and winning two against Miami (OH). Buffalo's last loss came on Oct. 15 in a five-set match on the road against Ohio. Buffalo won the first set and third set before the Bobcats won the fourth and fifth.
The Bulls are led by the fourth-best hitting percentage in the MAC. Individually, Courtney Okwara and Abby Leigh are second and third, respectively, for the stat with Okwara hitting .394 and Leigh coming in at .379. With 166 team service aces, Buffalo leads the conference with Katrin Trebichacska at the top of the stat sheet with 47. As for the defensive side, Buffalo is fourth in the conference for blocks with Leigh leading the way with 101, fifth in the conference individually.
Indrova On The All-Time List
Petra Indrova will look to continue moving up the all-time lists this weekend for both career attack attempts and career kills. As a Falcon, Indrova has landed 1,285 kills, needing just 15 to take over ninth in program history. As for attack attempts, Indrova has registered 3,459 for Bowling Green. She will need 23 more to move up to eighth all-time for the category.
Falcons Continue Efficient Attack
In the second match against Akron, the Falcons registered a .364 attack percentage over the three sets with just eight total errors, never finishing a set with a mark below .350. The outing is the most efficient attack for BGSU this season and is the fourth time in the last eight matches that the Orange and Brown have finished with an attack percentage of .300 or better. Over the weekend against Akron, the Falcons landed 112 kills on 267 attacks with just 27 errors for a .356 attack percentage over the course of the weekend.
Double-Doubles
Last weekend against Akron, the Falcons added another double-double to the season tally with Petra Indrova logging 16 kills and 10 digs in the five-set win on Friday (Nov. 4). Indrova now has a team-high 10 double-doubles this season, followed closely by Jaden Walz with nine and Lauryn Hovey with seven. As a team, the Orange and Brown have totaled 26 double-doubles this season in addition to two triple-doubles by Hovey.
