Falcons To Conclude Virginia Road Trip With Norfolk State Wednesday Night

NORFOLK, Va. - The Bowling Green State University men's basketball program will stay in the state of Virginia for the second straight game, taking on Norfolk State Wednesday night (Dec. 12). The game against the Spartans is currently set for an 8:00 p.m. tip and will mark the fifth meeting all-time between the two programs. The contest will be available to watch on HBCU GO. Wednesday will mark the fifth meeting all-time between the Falcons and the Spartans, all happening since the 2016-17 campaign. The last meeting was last season in Bowling Green with Norfolk State winning 90-84, the second straight win in the all-time series for the Spartans. The two teams have played just once in Norfolk, being a 92-77 win for Bowling Green during the 2017-18 season.Â

Norfolk State will enter the game against the Falcons with a 6-4 record, but three of those four losses have come against Top 10 teams, falling to then-#5 Baylor, #8 UCLA and #1 Houston. The other loss was a 68-62 final against Old Dominion. The Spartans are coming off a 67-53 win over William & Mary and have four players averaging double-digit points. Joe Bryant Jr. leads the way, averaging 14.9 points per game.Â

The last time out Bowling Green tallied a season-high 20 assists in the win over Hampton. Bowling Green has had an emphasis on rebounding the last four games, logging at least 37 rebounds in each game. Over those four games, the Falcons are averaging 40.8 rebounds per contest as opposed to averaging 36.8 through the first five games of the season. During the four game stretch, Rashaun Agee is leading the team with an average of 7.8 rebounds per game while Chandler Turner is close behind averaging 7.0.

The last five games, Rashaun Agee has come off the bench for the Falcons and has provided a spark. Since moving into the new role, Agee has led the Falcons in rebounds in four of the five games. Agee is averaging 11.6 points and 8.0 rebounds per game while playing 19.2 minutes per contest over that span. He's also averaging 1.8 blocks per game with nine of his 11 blocks this season coming over the last five games.Â
