Bowling Green, Ball State To Square Off At The Stroh Saturday

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University men's basketball program will be back at the Stroh Center for the second straight home game this week, hosting Ball State on Saturday (Feb. 19). The game is currently set for a 5:00 p.m. tip-off, marking the 16th of 20 MAC games this season for BGSU. The game between the Falcons and Cardinals will be available to stream on ESPN3. The Falcons and Cardinals will be meeting for the second time this season after previously playing on Jan. 1. Ball State pulled out a one-point win in that contest, 81-80. Trey Diggs paced the Falcons against the Cardinals the last time with 18 points followed by Daeqwon Plowden with 15 and Samari Curtis with 13. All-time, BGSU leads the series with a record of 53-38 against Ball State, including being 32-12 at home. The Falcons have also won seven of the last 10 meetings against the Cardinals.
At The Game: Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer
Saturday night's game against Ball State will be the Lace Up 4 Pediatric Up Game for men's basketball.

Regardless of vaccination status, all guests, staff, and vendors will be required to wear a face covering while in the Stroh Center. Fans are not required to show proof of vaccination to enter the Stroh Center, but face coverings – covering the nose and mouth – are required for all fans as they watch the game from their assigned seat and enter, exit, and move around. Children 2 and younger will not be required to wear a face covering. If spectators are unable to wear face coverings, they are encouraged not to attend games in-person for the sake of their health and the health of others.

The Falcons and Cardinals last played on the first of the year to begin the conference season. Since then, Ball State has gone 5-8 while losing four of their last five games. The last time BGSU and Ball State met the Cardinals saw a boost from Luke Bumbalough and Payton Sparks with both eclipsing the 20-point mark for the game. Miryne Thomas added eight points in addition to a team-high 14 rebounds.
At The Line
This season, Bowling Green is averaging more than 21 free throw attempts per game while making nearly 16 of those on a game-by-game basis. The consistent ability to get to the line has BGSU ranked 18th in the nation for free throw attempts this season with 547. The Falcons have sunk 410 of those attempts, the eighth-highest mark in the country. The team ranks 52nd in the nation for free throw percentage with a mark of 75%, fourth in the MAC.
Plowden Progressing Through Records
Daeqwon Plowden has continued a season-long trek through the Bowling Green men's basketball record book. Plowden has now entered the top 10 for scoring all-time, now with 1,544 career points. He's 24 points away from moving up to ninth all-time. Plowden also became the fourth player in program history to reach 900 rebounds for his collegiate career, now with 906. Finally, Plowden entered the top five for blocks, currently tied for fourth all-time with 117, knotted up with Tom Hall.
