Falcons Head To Youngstown For Two Weekend Matches

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University tennis team continues non-conference competition with two matches in Youngstown. The action begins at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 19, with the Falcons taking on Saint Francis. After the neutral site match, the Orange and Brown will play Youngstown State at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 20. Both matches will be held in the Youngstown State Tennis Center.

Last Time Out
The Falcons earned their first win of the season, a 6-1 victory over Findlay. Selina Karg, Ioanna Tsadari, and Hannah Neuman each finished with a singles and doubles win. Annika Vetter and Florencia Fuentes also tallied wins in singles to help the Falcons defeat the Oilers in the Perrysburg Tennis Center.

Opponent Outlook: Saint Francis
Saint Francis enters the weekend with a 5-2 record, with wins in their last three matches. The Red Flash open the weekend with a match against Duquesne on Friday, Feb. 18. On Saturday, they begin with a morning clash with Youngstown State before their evening match against BGSU.

Series History: Saint Francis
The Falcons and Red Flash have met once, a 6-1 win for BGSU in 2020. Ioanna Tsadari paced the Orange and Brown with a win at No. 1 Singles and a doubles win.

Opponent Outlook: Youngstown State
Youngstown State enters the weekend with a 2-4 overall record, with wins coming against UTEP and Weber State. The Penguins open the weekend with a match against Saint Francis on Saturday, Feb. 19. YSU has played two matches against MAC teams, losing to Toledo and Miami.

Series History: Youngstown State
This will be the 20^th matchup between the Falcons and Penguins, with Bowling Green holding an 18-1 advantage in the series. In 2020, the Orange and Brown earned a 5-2 victory, with Ioanna Tsadari securing wins in singles and doubles. Laura Maia Silveira also notched a victory in doubles.

Attendance Guidelines
Both matches will be played at the Youngstown State Tennis Center. The complex is located to the west of the YSU Softball Complex. The main entrance to the facility is located off of Ford Avenue which is East of the complex. Parking is available in the M-72 lot located next to the facility for $5.

Bowling Green will be on the road for two more weekend matches. On Saturday, Feb. 26, the Falcons will travel to East Lansing to play Michigan State. The Orange and Brown will travel to Cleveland for a match against Cleveland State on Sunday, Feb. 27.
