Platts to Compete at Second Straight NCAA Championships

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Daisy Platts of the Bowling Green State University swimming and diving team will be competing in the NCAA Championships in Atlanta, Georgia this week.

For the second straight year Platts will be competing at the NCAA Championships. Last year Daisy swam in the 100 and 200 Backstroke in Greensboro, North Carolina. This year Daisy will be adding the 200 IM to her NCAA Championship appearance.
In the 100 Backstroke Daisy broke the school record en route to winning her heat and finishing 21st in the nation. Going into the finals Daisy was the 37th seed and with a time of 52.65 swam to a 16-place improvement in finals.
After prelims Daisy was the 36th seeded swimmer in the 200 Backstroke. Daisy ended up finishing 24th nation with a time of 1:54.75 improving her place by 12 spots.
Platts Peak Performances
Daisy Platts is the sole record keeper in the 100 and 200 Backstroke and the 200 IM at Bowling Green. She holds the ten fastest times in both the 100 and 200 Backstroke events and nine of the ten fastest times in the 200 IM.
Throughout this season added more records to her resume. In the fall Daisy pulled in the Magnus Cup record in the 100 and 200 Backstroke events. Then during the spring season Daisy snatched more pool records at the Frederick A. Fitch Natatorium at Marshall University, coming home with the pool records in the 100 and 200 Backstroke.
This season at MAC Championships Daisy threepeated in the 100 Backstroke and set two individual records. Daisy broke her own school record in the 100 Back and 200 IM. Daisy then was a part of two school record relay teams in the 200 and 400 Medley relay events. All of this culminated in Daisy earning her fourth straight First Team All-MAC selection.
Along with First Team All-MAC honors Daisy finished the spring season with a MAC Swimmer of the Week for meets competed from January 25th through the 30th. Then after MAC Championships Daisy was named MAC Scholar Athlete of the week as well.
Swim Schedules
Daisy will swim on Thursday in the 200 IM, Friday in the 100 Backstroke, and Saturday in the 200 Backstroke. The start time for prelims is at 10 A.M. each day with finals starting at 6 P.M.
