Men's Golf To Compete In Colleton River Collegiate

BLUFFTON, S.C. – The Bowling Green State University men's golf team will be competing in the Colleton River Collegiate this week, beginning on Monday (March 7) and concluding on Tuesday (March 8). The Michigan State-hosted event will take place at the par-72, 7,180-yard Colleton River Club in Bluffton S.C. The Nicklaus course, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2022, will provide the backdrop to 54 holes of play, consisting of 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday. Scoring will consist of five players, counting the four lowest scores for each team across the 7,180-yard course.
The Colleton River Collegiate Field
The Colleton River Collegiate will feature a field of 15 teams with Bowling Green being one of three teams from the Mid-American Conference, being joined by Eastern Michigan and Miami (OH). The rest of the field will include host Michigan State as well as Cincinnati, Georgia Southern, Indiana, Iowa State, Kansas State, Memphis, Minnesota, Ohio State, Penn State, Rutgers and South Florida.

The Colleton River Collegiate Field

Ian Mackenzie-Olson
- Mackenzie-Olson is coming off an outing at the Border Olympics where he tallied his best round during the second 18, finishing with a score of 73. Mackenzie-Olson last played in the Colleton River Collegiate during the 2019-20 season, finishing with a score of 241 after the three rounds.
- Pevarnik will be competing in his seventh competition of the season. He's best outing came during the Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational, shooting a 214 (+4), including a season-best 70 during the second round.
- Fitchet will be playing in his first event of the spring. He appeared for the Falcons at the Colleton River Collegiate during the 2019-20 season, finishing with a three-round total of 232.
- Rattray will also be playing in his first event of the spring. His last competition came at the Tom Tontimonia Invitational on Oct. 5, finishing with a score of 148 after two rounds.
- Shin will tee it up for the Falcons for the sixth time this season, and second time this spring. Shin was part of the BGSU team that played at the Border Olympics in February, posting a second-round score of 72.
Falcon Facts
- The Falcons last competed at the Colleton River Collegiate during the 2019-20 season, marking the final event of the year for BGSU. Rodrigue Vie was the top placing Falcon, tying for 25th with a cumulative score of 220.
- From the 2019-20 team that played at the Colleton River Collegiate, both Dylan Fitchet and Ian Mackenzie-Olson will return to action for BGSU this year.
- After this trip to South Carolina, the Falcons will have the Missouri Tiger Invitational and Rutherford Intercollegiate left on the schedule before the MAC Championships at the end of April.
