June 22, 2022 | Men's Basketball
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Anthony McComb III, a 6-foot-3 guard from Dayton, Ohio, has signed to play for the Bowling Green State University men's basketball program. McComb comes to the Falcons after spending the past season with Flyght Academy Prep. McComb is the fifth newcomer to sign with the Falcons for the upcoming season. He joins fellow freshmen Jamai Felt and Willie Lightfoot as well as transfers Rashaun Agee and Sam Towns.Â
"I'm thrilled to add Anthony McComb to our roster," said Head Coach Michael Huger. "Anthony is a young man who has a variety of translatable skills. His ability to use a ball screen, hit the mid range shot off the bounce, make threes and create for his teammates are all things that we look for in our guards. He has received tremendous praise for his work ethic, which will give him an opportunity to achieve great success at BGSU. I'm excited to coach this young man, and believe his best days are still ahead of him!"
McComb played three seasons for Thurgood Marshall High School before playing his final season at Trotwood Madison. McComb totaled over 1,000 points in his high school career and was named First Team All-City three times and Second Team All-State once. McComb led his teams to two City League championships and one District title.Â
During his final high school season, playing for Trotwood Madison, McComb averaged 26.6 points per game en route to being named Second Team All-Ohio. This came after being named an All-Ohio honorable mention in 2019, a season that resulted in averaging 18.6 points per game and the 1,000-point milestone at Thurgood Marshall in just his junior season.Â
During his prep season at Flyght Academy Prep, McComb averaged 23.2 points while shooting 54% from the field and 41% from behind 3-point range. He added 5.4 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 2.0 steals per game.Â
Anthony McComb on choosing BGSU:
"I chose Bowling Green because I felt a genuine connection. It felt like home as soon as I stepped on campus and talked with the coaching staff. BGSU is a place where I can grow not only as a player, but in the classroom."
