Falcons Travel To Bethlehem For Paul Short Run On Friday

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University men's and women's cross country teams are set to compete against a large field in the Paul Short Run on Friday, Sept. 30. The Lehigh-hosted event marks the Falcons' third meet of the season.

Paul Short Run
The Paul Short Run will be held at the Lehigh Goodman Campus Cross Country Course on the campus of Lehigh University on Friday, Sept. 30. The men's team will compete in the Gold Division 8k race at 11 a.m., and the women will follow in the Gold Division 6k at 11:45 a.m. An awards ceremony will follow the conclusion of the women's race at 12:45 p.m.

Against the Field
The Falcon men will compete as part of a 46-team field in the Men's College Gold race. The Falcons join Central Michigan as representatives of the Mid-American Conference, while regionally ranked Indiana (7th) and Dayton (14th) round out a field of four Great Lakes Region representatives. Also competing in the event are the hosts, Lehigh, and three nationally ranked teams in #13 North Carolina, #17 Georgetown, and #21 Villanova.

The Women's College Gold race will feature athletes from 47 schools. The Falcons are one of five teams representing the Great Lakes Region, including three Mid-American Conference schools. Those regionally ranked opponents include Indiana (7th), Ohio (10th), Central Michigan (12th), and Dayton (15th). Other opponents include meet hosts Lehigh and nationally ranked #12 North Carolina, #15 Providence, #16 Utah Valley, and #18 Georgetown.

Last Time Out
The Falcons last competed in the BGSU-hosted Mel Brodt Open on Friday, Sept. 16. Bowling Green placed third of four teams in the men's race, while the women finished fourth of four teams competing. Kailee Perry (2nd), Katerina Shuble (3rd), and Kylee Cubbison (8th) all posted top-10 finishes in the women's 6k. AJ Haffa placed third overall while Charlie Nowinski ran a personal best 8k time of 26:14.6 to place 12th in the men's 8k.

The Falcon women competed in the Paul Short Run last season, placing 22nd out of 38 teams in attendance. Six Falcons set personal bests in the meet, with Katerina Shuble leading the way with a 42nd place finish.Â

The Falcons will host the Falcon Invite, their final home meet of the season, on Friday, Oct. 14. The event will take place at the Bowling Green Cross Country Course, with the women's Steve Price 6,000m race kicking off the meet at 4:30 p.m. The men's Bob Rothermel 8,000m event will follow at 5:15 p.m., with awards to conclude the meet at 6 p.m.
