Falcon Swimmers to Host While Divers Head to Buffalo

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University swimming and diving team each have their own events this weekend. The swimming team will take on Akron at home in the Cooper Pool on Saturday at 1 p.m. While the divers head to New York for the Buffalo Diving Invite on Friday and Saturday.
Featured Falcons
The Falcons are coming into the New Year having already competed once. The Falcons participated in the Florida International University Sprint Invitational on January 3rd finishing third out of seven teams. The divers added two second-place finishes with one coming from Grace Ellis in the 1-Meter Dive with a score of 239.75 and the other from Rayah Blood in the 3-Meter Dive thanks to a score of 276.20.
Swimmer Emily McNicol was the only Falcon to come home with an event win at FIU Sprint invite winning the 50 Backstroke. This was McNicol's sixth event win of the season and her first in the 50 Backstroke. Taylor Harris also had a strong performance with a fourth-place finish in the 50 Breaststroke and a tenth-place finish in the 100 IM. Butterfly swimmer Riley McNichols also swam to two fifth-place finishes in the 50 and 100 Butterfly.
Preview of Opponent
The Zips of Akron are 2-1 with wins against their MAC Conference counterparts Buffalo and Ball State. Akron has also won three invites including the Akron Zips Classic, Magnus Cup Invitational, and the Zippy Invitational. The Falcons look to hand Akron their first conference loss of the season.
