Gilmore Named MAC Defensive Player of the Week

Bowling Green State University women's soccer standout Isabelle Gilmore has been named the Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Week. The league office made the announcement on Tuesday morning (Oct. 3).
Gilmore earns a MAC weekly honor for the first time in her BGSU career.
For the second-straight week, Gilmore, a native of DeWitt, Mich. (DeWitt), anchored a BGSU defense that had two shutouts. Gilmore, who has played all 360 minutes in the Falcons' four MAC matches, helped the Falcons limit Akron to only four shots on goal in a 1-0 BG win on Thursday night (Sept. 28) at Cochrane Stadium.
Then, the Falcons surrendered just two shots on goal in a 2-0 road win over Ohio on Sunday afternoon (Oct. 1). With the two shutout wins, BGSU has moved into first place in the MAC standings.
The MAC honor comes one week after Gilmore was named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week.
The Falcons have posted four shutouts in four MAC matches, and BGSU has allowed just 10 total shots on goal in the four wins. Gilmore is the lone Falcon to have played every second of every match this season to date.
The Falcons, now 5-4-1 overall and 3-0-1 in the MAC, head to Oxford for a Thursday night (Oct. 5) matchup with Miami (OH), before returning home to meet Eastern Michigan on Sunday afternoon (Oct. 8). Admission is free to all BGSU home regular-season matches.
