Falcons First Half Forges Path To Victory Over Lipscomb

Hill Registers Season-High 33 Points, Team-Leading Five Assists
MONTREAL, Canada - The Bowling Green State University men's basketball team picked up their first win away from the Stroh Center this season, topping the Lipscomb Bisons 82-61. The Falcons were sparked by a 45-point first half, carrying a 22-point lead into the half behind a 69.0% first half field goal percentage. The strong start propelled the Falcons to a 60.3% mark from the field and victory. With the win, the Orange and Brown are back to .500 on the season with one game left to play at the Northern Classic.
Marcus Hill paced the Falcons with 33 points and five assists, both leading the team and season-highs. DaJion Humphrey (14) and Jason Spurgin (12) also recorded double-digit points in the starting lineup. Off the bench, Rashaun Agee topped the rebounds list with nine while adding eight points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons won the opening tip, but it was Lipscomb with the first basket. Marcus Hill and Jason Spurgin answered with a bucket each to push BGSU in front 4-2 in the early going.
- The Bisons added a free throw before Sam Towns dished it out to Hill for a three, making it a 7-1 BGSU stretch and 7-3 lead.
- Lipscomb worked to tie it up at 7-7, but Spurgin connected for a three from the corner to make it a 10-7 Bowling Green advantage at the first media timeout.
- Out of the timeout, Towns, Hill and Rashaun Agee all added baskets to push the Bowling Green run to 9-0 and extend their lead to 16-7 and force a timeout from the Bisons bench.
- Hill and Agee found the bottom of the basket again before the next stoppage, coming at the under-12 timeout with the Falcons leading 20-13.
- Out of the timeout, Hill added a triple to push the Bowling Green lead to double-digits at 23-13. The double-digit lead remained into the under-8 timeout at 25-15.
- The two teams traded baskets before a corner three from EJay Greer extended the Bowling Green lead, entering the final media timeout of the first half with a 36-23 score.
- The Falcons continued adding to their lead through the timeout, extending it to an 8-0 run with a 42-23 lead. DaJion Humphrey added a three just before the halftime buzzer to close out the first half with an 11-0 BGSU run, sending the Falcons to the locker room with a 45-23 lead.
- Towns got the second half scoring going with an and-one opportunity. He swiped a steal and got the fastbreak layup plus the harm, converting the three-point play to push the BGSU lead to 48-23 with a 14-0 run spanning the half.
- The Falcons continued to add to their lead, getting the score to 55-26 to make it a 29-point advantage early in the second half.
- Lipscomb began to chip away at the deficit, utilizing a 9-0 run to trim it to 59-41 before a Humphrey three ended the run.
- After the Humphrey basket, the Bisons put together a 7-0 run to bring it to a 62-50 score and 16-3 run that included a Bowling Green timeout in the midst of it.
- Bowling Green soon responded with an 8-0 run to push their lead back to 20 with a 70-50 tally, taking a 76-54 lead into the final media timeout.
- The Orange and Brown added a late 6-0 run to push the score to 82-58 before a Lipscomb three to make it an 82-61 final.

- The Falcons tallied a season-high 45 points in the first half. Bowling Green also shot a season-best 69% from the field in the first half. The 22-point halftime lead was the largest of the season so far for the Orange and Brown.
- As a team, the Falcons set new season-highs for field goals made (35) and three-pointers made (10). They also matched their season-high for assists with 14.
- For the second straight night, Marcus Hill tallied a season-high in the scoring column, this time with 33. He's the first Falcon to eclipse 30 points since Leon Ayers III had 31 against Miami (OH) last season.
- Hill added a season-high five assists, leading the team. This is the second time this year Hill has led the team in both points and assists. BGSU is 2-0 in those games.
- With the win, the Falcons have now tallied wins over 263 different opponents in program history and are 1-0 against Lipscomb all-time.
- DaJion Humphrey followed on the stat sheet with 14 points for the Falcons, including a team-high four triples for the Orange and Brown.
- Jason Spurgin joined in on the double-digit scoring with 12, his third time in the last four games with double-digit points.
- Rashaun Agee came off the bench for the Falcons and tallied a season-high and team-leading nine rebounds, including matching his career-high with eight defensive rebounds.
- EJay Greer played a season-high eight minutes in the contest, matching his career-high with three points. Greer added his first two collegiate rebounds and his first collegiate assist.
- The win marks the first win for Bowling Green away from the Stroh Center this season and the program's first MTE win since topping Milwaukee in the Fort Myers Tip-Off during the 2021-22 season.
- As a team, the Falcons attempted just five free throws, the fewest since attempting five against Toledo on Jan. 30, 2021.
- The Falcons debuted their new orange uniforms in the game, now standing 1-0 when wearing them.
