Falcons To Wrap Up Northern Classic Sunday Against Canisius

Falcons, Griffins Scheduled For 4 p.m. Tip
MONTREAL, Canada - The Bowling Green State University men's basketball team will conclude play at the Northern Classic on Sunday (Nov. 26) against the Canisius Griffins. The Falcons and Griffins are set for a 7 p.m. tip at the Place Bell Arena, wrapping up a three-game slate for Bowling Green at the Northern Classic.
Opening Tip
Bowling Green and Lipscomb will be meeting for the 16th time in program history with the Falcons holding the all-time advantage at 9-6. After picking up a win over Lipscomb on Saturday (Nov. 25), the Falcons will be seeking their first MTE winning record since going 2-1 at the Paradise Jam in 2019-20.Â

Scouting The GriffinsÂ
Canisius will enter with a 4-2 record, including a 2-0 standing at the Northern Classic. The Griffins started with a 76-67 win over Wofford and added an 85-77 victory over Western Kentucky. Canisius is led by senior guard Siem Uijtendaal who leads the team in scoring (14.2), free throw percentage (84.2%), steals (2.3) and minutes per game (31.3). The Griffins also have five players averaging double-digit points on the year: Uijtendaal (14.2), Tre Dinkins (13.2), Bryce Okpoh (11.0), Frank Mitchell (10.7) and Tahj Staveskie (10.5). Okpah also leads the team in field goal percentage (65.1%) and three-point percentage (60.0%).
BGSU v. Canisius, A HistoryÂ
This game will mark the 16th all-time between Bowling Green and Canisius and the first since 2015 when the two faced in the CIT. The Falcons hold the all-time advantage in the series with a 9-6 record. The last win for the Falcons came in 2009. The Orange and Brown also hold the longest win streak in the series, winning five straight from 1961 to 1986. The streak also included the largest win margin of the series with BGSU winning by 32 in 1964.
Hill Continues Strong StretchÂ
For the second straight game, Marcus Hill was the game's leading scorer against Lipscomb with a season-high 33 points. The game marked Hill's first 30-point game of the season and third 20-point game after tallying 29 against Western Kentucky and 26 against Arkansas State. No stranger to scoring, Hill led the NJCAA in points scored a season ago with 780 and averaged 26 points per game. This year he's averaging 19.3 points per game.
Agee Nearing Career MilestoneÂ
At all levels of collegiate basketball, Rashaun Agee has accumulated 961 career points, leaving him just 39 away reaching 1,000 career points. Of his 961 points, 355 have come in the Orange and Brown. During the 2021-22 campaign, Agee tallied 604 with Casper College. His other two points came at New Mexico State in 2020-21. For his entire career, Agee has averaged just over 14 points per game.Â
BGSU On The BoardsÂ
Through the first six games of the season, the Falcons have outrebounded their opponent five times. As a team, BGSU is averaging 37.2 rebounds per game while holding their opponent to 34.3 boards per game. Of the team's 223 rebounds, 53 have come on the offensive end with 170 on the defensive. Rashaun Agee currently leads the team with 41, averaging 6.8 per game.Â
Finding The Open Man
The Falcons have increased their assist total in the last two games, recording 14 assists in both games at the Northern Classic. The 14 assists are a season-high for the Falcons. Over the course of the season, the Falcons have registered 67 assists, averaging 11.2 per game. Marcus Hill leads the team with 17, averaging 2.8 assists per game and has topped the stat sheet for assists three times this season.Â
