Falcons Drop Series Opener In Overtime

Bowling Green, Ohio - The Bowling Green Falcons (1-6-0, 0-0-0 CCHA) dropped the Friday night contest to the Mercyhurst Lakers (1-3-2, 0-0-2 AHA) by a score of 4-3 in final overtime. Majority of the scoring happened in the first period, the Falcons tallied three and the Lakers added one. The rest of the scoring came from Mercyhurst, adding one in the second and one in the third to take the game into overtime. The Lakers called the game at 3:56 in overtime. This was the first overtime game for the Falcons and the third for the Lakers, of the season.

Bowling Green will return to action Saturday, November 4th in Slater Family Ice Arena for the second game of the series against the Mercyhurst Lakers, puck-drop set for 7:07 p.m. This game will serve as Star Wars Night and Falcon Hockey will be signing autographs following the game.

Scoring Plays
- Brody Waters started the scoring for the night at 7:52 in the first period. Waters was set up by O'Hara and Norris, to backhand the puck in front of the net which hit off a Laker stick past the goaltender.
- Jaden Grant scored shortly after at 6:48 in the first period. Grant set up for a face-off and Stjernberg collected the puck and hit it towards the goal. Grant redirected the puck into the back of the net, to put the Falcons up 2-0 early in the first period.
- Steven Agriogianis started the scoring for the Lakers at 6:23 in the first period. Ariogianis received the puck to the left of the net and hit a slap shot past Stoever to make the score 2-1 Falcons.
- Ryan O'Hara scored a power-play goal at 1:35 in the first period. O'Hara skates by a couple of Lakers to hit the puck past the Lakers goaltender, making the score 3-1 Falcons.Â
- Connor Pelc had the lone goal in the second period at 13:52. Pelc found an opening at the top of the left circle, which started the scoring streak for the Lakers.
- Tommy Bannister scored a power-play goal to tie the game up in the third period at 10:50. Bannister scored off of a face-off and was set up at the top of the left circle to put the puck near side of Stoever to make the game 3-3.
- Phillip Waugh called the game at 3:56 in overtime, after a back and forth between the Falcons and the Lakers. Waugh got around his defender to have a clear path for the net and beat Stoever low to take the win 4-3 in overtime.
- Jaden Grant tallied his first goal of the season, making it his fourth career goal. Assist came from Gustav Stjernberg, who tallied his first collegiate assist.
- Ryan O'Hara recorded two points on the night (1g,1a), leading the Falcons with six points on the year. O'Hara's power-play goal was his first of the season and fifth of his career.
- Eric Parker tallied his first point on the season, Parker had an assist on the O'Hara goal which is his 16th career assist. Dalton Norris recorded the other assist and was his second assist of the year.
- Josh Nodler recorded his first assist for the Orange and Brown, marking his 25th career assist. Nodler holds two points for the Falcons.
