Falcons Return Home Sunday For First Of Five Straight At Stroh

BGSU, Ohio Dominican Set For 2 p.m. Tip
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University men's basketball team will return to the Stroh Center on Sunday (Dec. 10) for the first of five straight home games for the Falcons. Bowling Green will be hosting the Ohio Dominican Panthers for a 2 p.m. tip and the third meeting all-time between the two teams.Â
Opening Tip
The Falcons and Panthers are set to square off for the third time all-time and the second time in as many seasons. The Orange and Brown currently hold a 5-3 record, the best start through eight games since the 2020-21 campaign (6-2) and are seeking their fourth straight victory. BGSU is 2-0 all-time against ODU with both head coaches in the game currently in their first season leading their respective schools.Â
A Bowling Green Win Would…
Scouting The Panthers
Ohio Dominican currently stands with a 1-5 record and will play Tiffin University on Saturday (Dec. 9) before taking on the Falcons. ODU's lone win came in an 88-81 final over Wilberforce. On the year, the Panthers have four players averaging double-digit points per game, being led by JeJuan Weatherspoon with 19.2. Weatherspoon also leads the team in rebounding, averaging a double-double with 11.0 rebounds per game. Additionally, Weatherspoon leads ODU in steals (7) and blocks (6).Â
BGSU v. Ohio Dominican, A History
Bowling Green and Ohio Dominican have met two times previously with now all three meetings being played at BGSU. The first meeting all-time came in 2010 with an 81-55 Bowling Green win. Last season, the Falcons tallied a 102-65 victory over the Panthers to make the series 2-0. A year ago, BGSU shot 58.3% from the field against ODU. Among the BGSU returners, Sam Towns tallied a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds while Rashaun Agee added 12 points to the winning effort.
Hill Tops Scoring ColumnÂ
Through the first eight games of the season, Marcus Hill has led the Falcons in scoring six times, including four 20-point games. Hill is currently averaging 19.9 points per game, which leads BGSU. Hill's scoring average places him second in the Mid-American Conference and tied for 34th in the nation. EMU's Tyson Acuff is the only player in the MAC averaging more points with a mark of 22.8 points per game. In wins this season, Hill is averaging 24.0 points per game.Â
Agee Nearing Career MilestoneÂ
At all levels of collegiate basketball, Rashaun Agee has accumulated 970 career points, leaving him just 30 away from reaching 1,000 career points. Of his 970 points, 364 have come in the Orange and Brown. During the 2021-22 campaign, Agee tallied 604 with Casper College. His other two points came at New Mexico State in 2020-21. For his entire career, Agee has averaged just over 14 points per game.Â
Ball Control Keys
Ball control has been a key point for the Falcons through the first eight games of the season. In wins this season, Bowling Green is averaging 5.6 steals per game and are committing just 9.6 turnovers per game. However, in losses this season the Orange and Brown are averaging 4.0 steals per game and are committing 16.3 turnovers per game. In wins this season, the Falcons are outscoring their opponent 71-49 in points off turnovers. In losses, the opponent holds the advantage at 55-21.Â
Days Of The WeekÂ
During the non-conference schedule, the Falcons have played three games on Saturday with one game on Monday and the ODU game marking the second on Sunday. So far this season, BGSU is 5-0 when playing during the Saturday-Sunday-Monday stretch. However, when playing any day between Tuesday and Friday the Orange and Brown are 0-3 this season.Â
Falcon Down The StretchÂ
Against Southern Indiana, the Falcons picked up their first win this season after trailing at the half. However, the last five minutes and last two minutes of the game have been telling for Bowling Green. So far this season, BGSU is 5-0 when leading with five minutes left in the game and 5-0 when leading with two minutes remaining. However, they are 0-3 when trailing at both marks.Â
