Falcons Host Penguins For Second Home Match of Season

Bowling Green Back From Weekend Break, Plays Youngstown State on Friday
PERRYSBURG, Ohio – The Bowling Green Falcons (1-5, 0-0 MAC) return from a weekend off with their second home match of the season, hosting the Youngstown State Penguins (2-4, 0-0 Horizon League). The Falcons and Penguins start at 1 p.m. ET on Friday, Feb. 17. It will be held at the Perrysburg Tennis Center, parking and admission are free. Last Time Out: Falcons Drop Pair of Matches to Open February, Return After Weekend Off
The Falcons last competed on Feb. 5, dropping a 7-0 match to Michigan State. The doubles duo of Lucy Furness earned a 6-3 win over Charlotte Gisclon and Makenna Martinez, marking their fourth doubles win of the year. The pairing is 4-2 this season, including a 3-0 mark when playing in the No. 2 spot. Two days before the MSU match, BGSU hosted Cleveland State for the first home action of the season. The Vikings took a 7-0 win, but Eloise Saraty and Maru Poppe secured their second doubles victory of the season. The pairing's triumph moved BGSU's doubles record to 9-9 this spring.

Youngstown State enters with a 2-4 record, with both wins coming by a score of 5-2. On Jan. 29, they defeated Carnegie Mellon, then they beat Buffalo on Feb. 10. Moka Ito and Jessica Stanmore lead the Penguins with 3-2 singles records, with the doubles pairing of Eliska Masarikova and Elisa Rigazio holding a 3-1 record. BGSU and YSU met at two invitationals in the fall, the Spartan Invite and Rocket Invite. At the Spartan Invite, Youngstown State took all three matches in the Izzo 'B' Flight. In the Spartan Dawgs 'D' Flight, BGSU's Maru Poppe and YSU's Jessica Stanmore paired to win the flight. At the Rocket Invite, the Falcons swept the doubles round, with teams of Ioanna Tsadari and Elosie Saraty and Hannah Neuman and Lucy Furness taking victories. Tsadari also earned a singles win, defeating Lili Minich in three sets.
