Leon Ayers III Named All-MAC Honorable Mention

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Mid-American Conference announced on Wednesday morning (March 8) the men's basketball awards for the 2022-23 season. Of those named, Bowling Green's Leon Ayers III was named an All-MAC Honorable Mention. Ayers continues a streak of 22 consecutive seasons with at least one Falcon named to an All-MAC team at the conclusion of the season.Â
A senior from Troy, Mich. Ayers led the Falcons in points scored, finishing the season with 512 and averaging 16.5 points per game which finished seventh in the MAC. Ayers shot 47.3% from the field, 41.4% from three and 80.8% from the free throw line. Additionally, he finished the season with 96 assists, second on the team with an average of 3.1 per game which was 13th in the conference. Over the course of the 2022-23 campaign, Ayers recorded 27 games with double-digit points, logged 12 20-point games, including two 30-point games, led the team in scoring in 15 games and in assists in seven games.Â
