April 01, 2023 | Women's Basketball
Graduate transfer averaged 15.0 points, 6.6 rebounds during BGSU's deep tourney run
Bowling Green State University women's basketball standout Allison Day has been named to the WNIT All-Tournament Team. The announcement was made Saturday evening(April 1), following the tournament's championship game.
Day becomes the first player in program history to be named to the WNIT's all-tourney squad.
Day, a native of Russellville, Ohio, averaged 15.0 points and 6.6 rebounds per game during the tournament, as the Falcons made the deepest tourney run in program history. Day and the Falcons defeated Liberty, Green Bay, Memphis and Florida to advance to the semifinals (Fab 4), before losing to Columbia on Wednesday night (March 29).
Day scored in double-digits in each of BGSU's four national-tourney wins, including a 25-point, 11-rebound performance in the win at Green Bay. She went 12-for-16 from the field in that win and posted her second double-double of the season.
She followed up that effort with an 18-point, seven-rebound performance in BG's third-round win over Memphis. On the season, Day scored in double digits 25 times, including in 22 of BG's final 27 contests.
Day finished second on the team in scoring in 2022-23, averaging 13.1 ppg, and she shot a team-leading 52.6 percent from the field. Day scored 497 points this year and 1,636 in her collegiate career.
Day was joined on the WNIT's All-Tournament Team by Taiyanna Jackson and Zakiyah Franklin of Kansas, Abbey Hsu and Kaitlyn Davis of Columbia, and Dalayah Daniels of Washington. Kansas downed Columbia, 66-59, in Saturday's championship game.
The Falcons finished the 2022-23 season with a 31-7 mark, tying the school and Mid-American Conference single-season wins records.
