Zaresha Neal Named MAC Field Athlete of the Week

Senior thrower earns third outdoor award of season, sixth honor of 2023 campaign
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference has announced two student-athletes as its Women's Track and Field Athletes of the Week, with Bowling Green's Zaresha Neal earning MAC Field Athlete of the Week for the third time this outdoor season. The senior placed first in both of her events at the Tennessee Invite, winning the shot put and discus. Her shot put mark was a season-best, giving her the MAC's top mark in both events.
MAC Field Athlete of the Week: Zaresha Neal, Senior, Bowling Green
Zaresha Neal had a spectacular weekend at the Tennessee Invite, winning the discus and shot put. On Friday, she had a discus mark of 164-1.00 (50.03m), taking first place. The next day, she threw a season-best 53-6.25 (16.31m) in the shot put, securing her second event title of the meet. Her shot put mark is also first in the MAC and ranks 33rd in the NCAA. She remains at the top of the MAC discus standings while ranking 27th in the NCAA.
This is the third time in as many chances Neal has been honored during the 2023 outdoor season. She has earned recognition six times during the 2023 season, the most in the MAC. In her career, she has eight MAC Field Athlete of the Week honors, with four of them coming during the outdoor season.
