Falcon throwers open three-day Tennessee Invite with strong showing in Knoxville
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Bowling Green Falcons opened the 2023 Tennessee Invite on Thursday (April 6), competing in the hammer throw. Mateya Haintz had a strong showing for the Orange and Brown, recording her second-best mark of the year and finishing as the event's runner-up. Kami Baker placed 13th for Bowling Green, recording her first career mark in the event.

Falcon Facts
The Falcons continue competition at the Tennessee Invite tomorrow (April 7). The heptathlon begins at 10 a.m., field events start at 12 p.m., and track events start at 5 p.m. The Falcons will also compete on Saturday, April 8. On that day, the heptathlon starts at 10:30 a.m., followed by track and field events at 12 p.m. Live results for both days will be posted HERE and the full schedule of events can be found HERE. A live stream for Friday morning is available HERE and a live stream for Friday afternoon and evening can be found HERE. Saturday's stream is available HERE. - Mateya Haintz recorded her second-best mark of the season at 184-7.00 (56.26m). She has competed in the hammer throw three times as a Falcon, taking first place twice and second place once.
- Haintz currently ranks fourth in program history in the event with a mark of 195-3.00 (59.52m), obtained at last weekend's Oliver Nikoloff Invite. That mark remains the best in the MAC this season.
- Baker also competed in the hammer throw at the Oliver Nikoloff Invite but fouled on all three attempts. Today was her first career recorded mark in the event at 148-11.00 (45.41m).
