Bowling Green Balanced in Sensational Second Day at Tennessee

Fernandes and Lucas in top four in heptathlon, Richard PRs in long jump, Neal wins discus
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Bowling Green Falcons competed on the second day of the Tennessee Invite on Friday (April 7), held at the Tom Black Track at LaPorte Stadium. The Falcons started the day with spectacular efforts in the heptathlon, with Destiny Fernandes and Jenna Lucas competing in the event. Both ran season-bests in the 100 hurdles, then tied for second in the high jump. Lucas won the shot put, then Fernandes had a PR in the 200, putting Fernandes at second and Lucas at fourth in the heptathlon standings. The event will resume at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow with the long jump, then conclude with the javelin and 800.
BGSU also had an outstanding day outside the heptathlon. Brianna Richard had a long jump PR of 5.97m that placed her fifth in the event and moves her into fourth place in the program record book. Zaresha Neal earned an event win in the discus, where she was backed by fifth-place finisher Reagan Emberton.

- Brianna Richard earned a PR in the long jump with a mark of 19-7.00 (5.97m). This is the eighth-best mark in program history and places her fourth among individuals in the school record book.
- Destiny Fernandes recorded a PR in the 200 (26.09) while matching her outdoor PR in the shot put (33-7.50, 10.25m). The senior also tallied a season-best in the 100 hurdles (15.06) and made her outdoor season debut in the high jump (5-2.50, 1.59m).
- Jenna Lucas started competition in her first collegiate heptathlon with a season-best time of 15.72 in the 100 hurdles. She followed that with a win in the shot put, earning the second-best mark of her collegiate career with a mark of 40-9.00 (12.42m). She also had a season-best in the high jump (5.2.50, 1.59m) and made her collegiate debut in the 200 (27.14).
- Freshmen long jumpers Morgan Patterson (18-8.00, 5.69m) and Sabrina Imes (16-10.50, 5.14m) each recorded the best mark of their outdoor seasons.
- Zaresha Neal secured her third event win of the outdoor campaign with a first-place finish in the discus (164-1.00, 50.03m). This mark ranks 24th in program history, giving the senior 15 of the school's top 25 marks.
- Reagan Emberton notched her third top-five event finish of the outdoor season, placing fifth in the discus with a mark of 133-6.00 (40.69m).
- Alexis Parchman ran a season-best time of 25.53 in the 200.
- Darian Braddix (25.31) and Tianna Mulligan (25.52) made their outdoor season debuts in the 200.
- DaMya Barker ran the 400 hurdles for the first time in her collegiate career, placing 11th at 1:06.71.
