Zaresha Neal Earns Second-Team All-America Honors at NCAA Championship

Senior closes career with 15th-place finish in the discus for second career All-America honor
AUSTIN, Texas – Bowling Green senior thrower Zaresha Neal closed her historic career at the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship, finishing 15th in the discus to earn second-team All-America honors. She competed in the event on Saturday, June 10, at the University of Texas. Neal threw a top mark of 53.23m, putting her 15th in the field of 24 and seven spots above her seed. Neal is the sixth Falcon to earn All-America honors during the indoor and outdoor seasons.

- Neal's mark matched the fifth-best of her career, ranking sixth in school history. It is the best discus mark a BGSU athlete has recorded at the NCAA Championship.
- She entered the weekend as the No. 22 seed, improving on that position by seven spots.
- Her five best marks from the 2023 season rank second, fourth, sixth, seventh, and eighth in school history.
- With this honor, the Falcons have produced an NCAA Outdoor All-American in five consecutive seasons. Neal is the sixth athlete in Bowling Green history to earn All-America honors during the indoor and outdoor seasons. She joins legendary Falcons Stephanie Heldt, Nikki Lessig, Aliyah Gustafson, Huina Han, and Jodi Rafferty.
- Head Coach Lou Snelling has produced 12 All-Americans in his time at BGSU, which began in 2011.
- Over her six-year career, Neal earned five MAC titles, nine MAC Field Athlete of the Week awards, six Academic All-MAC honors, Chi Alpha Sigma Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year, and the BGSU Female Medal of Honor. She qualified for the NCAA Championship three times and the NCAA Regional four times, competing in the shot put and discus at all four regional meets.
