Bazelak, Stewart Hit Career Milestones In Program's First ACC Win
Connor Bazelak led the way for the Orange and Brown, passing for 263 yards in the win while eclipsing 8,000 passing yards and 40 touchdowns for his collegiate career. Finn Hogan was on the receiving end of eight of Bazelak's passes, racking up 102 yards and a spectacular one-handed touchdown catch. Terion Stewart added 138 yards on the ground for the Falcons, finding the end zone for a score as well while hitting the 1,000-yard rushing mark for his BGSU career.
On the defensive side of the ball, Joseph Sipp Jr. led the attack for the Falcons, tallying seven tackles. Deshawn Jones Jr. and Jordan Oladokun each added an interception to the Bowling Green effort while the defense as a whole stifled the run, holding the Yellow Jackets to just 69 yards on the ground.Â
FROM THE INTERVIEW ROOM – COACH LOEFFLER
"I'm really proud of this team. I've said it a thousand times, we're a team that can go out and do what we did last week and we're a team that can go beat a Power 5 team. I said it to them in [the locker], we've been here before. We went and beat Minnesota and then the next week came out and completely laid an egg. Our challenge now is to see if we can put it back-to-back. That's hard to do right now. College football is different, just like I said last week when we played terrible, college football is week in and week out. Your mind has to be right, your heart has to be right and you have to be a selfless, team guy to get things done and that's who we have to be. We're never going to out-talent anyone, but we're going to be a team that has enough talent. We have to play team football and we played team football today. If you look at the stats, time of possession was 42-minutes to 17, ran the ball really well, threw the ball really well, was 10-of-17 on third down. Our defense got off the field. I think the 4th-down stop was absolutely pivotal, which led to the pick six which was huge. I also thought that the last drive with the offense was huge. I think it was 11 plays, we chipped away at the clock, protected the ball. We punted the ball well, special teams were good. So, let's go see if we can put it back-to-back against a team very similar to [Ohio] in terms of discipline, a super good team and we have to go down to Miami (OH) and play our best football because they are good.
