Falcons Host Leathernecks for Home Opener Saturday

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green Falcons (1-1, 0-0 MAC) continue non-conference competition with the 2024 home opener against Western Illinois University (1-1, 0-0 OVC). The match will be held in the Perrysburg Tennis Center at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27 parking and admission are free. Results will be posted to the twitter page, found HERE, and on the BGSU Tennis page on BGSUFalcons.com.
Last Time Out: BGSU Tennis Splits Opening Weekend
The Falcons opened the spring portion of 2024 with a 4-3 win over the Dayton Flyers on Saturday, Jan 20 at the South Regency Tennis Center. The Falcons went 3-3 in singles competition, the three freshmen secured their singles match. No.4 Isabella Baker (6-4, 7-6), No.5 Tia Clemens (2-6, 6-3, 7-6) and No.6 Brynn Chaffee (6-4, 6-3). No.1 Furness/Neuman (7-5) and No.2 Fonseca/Baker (6-1) both won their doubles match, to secure the win for the Falcons.
Bowling Green continued their opening weekend in Lima, Ohio when they faced UNOH. The Falcons went 3-3 in singles, again on Sunday. No.1 Lucy Furness (6-2, 6-3), No.3 Leticia Fonseca (6-2, 6-1) and No.6 Brynn Chaffee (6-2,6-0) secured the win in their singles matches. No.1 Furness/Neuman (6-2) secured the only win for the Falcons in doubles. The Falcons overall going 1-3 in doubles contest, Sunday afternoon.
Opponent Outlook
Western Illinois enters the weekend with a 1-1 record, with both matches being non-conference last weekend. The Leathernecks hosted both matches, dropping to Illinois State on Saturday and picking up their first win against IUPUI the following day. Western Illinois will be splitting their upcoming weekend, when they travel to Cincinnati, Ohio to face the Bearcats on Friday and make the travel north to face the Falcons on Saturday.
