Seniors Soar in Ypsi as Falcons Fall to Eagles

YPSILANTI, Michigan – The Bowling Green State University swimming and diving team took on the Eagles of Eastern Michigan today and fell by a score of 114-173.
The Falcons were led by two of their senior swimming captains in Michigan today. Senior Gabby Vitela started out the individual events with a win in the 1650 Freestyle. This was her first event win on the season and did so with a time of 17:20.99. Fellow Falcon captain Ava Vial also added a victory on the night. Vial left Ypsilanti with a win in the 400 IM and a second-place finish in the 200 Butterfly. Vial paced the 400 IM at a time of 4:31.40 and swam to a time of 2:05.95 in the 200 Butterfly.
Sophomore backstroke swimmer Emily McNicol came home with yet another event win in the 100 Backstroke. McNicol was able to lead the field in the event with a time of 56.89. Fellow backstroke Falcon Morgan Sokol added a second-place time in the 200 Backstroke with a time of 2:04.92. McNicol added a third-place finish in the 200.
Falcon diving was led by senior Grace Ellis tonight. Ellis posted a lifetime best a zone qualifying score on the 1-Meter boards today. On top of this Ellis was able to secure her first event win of the season with a score of 293.85 on the boards. For the second straight weekend Cassidy Daugherty recorded a lifetime best on the 1-Meter. Evie Long also soared to her second best score ever on the 1-Meter boards, one week after recording a lifetime best.

"The results were not what we were hoping. However, being a timed sport, I am able to see that we are trending upwards. We are getting faster and peaking at the right time before tapering for MAC Championships."
