BGSU Swim & Dive Dominates Hillsdale in Home Opener

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The BGSU swim & dive team welcomed in Hillsdale for their first home dual meet of the season and dominated the Chargers of Division II, 228.5-55.5.
The Falcons won all but one event and took the top three spots in eight individual swimming events.
Alexandra Johnson, Alyse Sorg, Riley McNichols and Emily McNicol started the swimming events off hot with a 200-medley relay victory in a time of 1:46.90.
Swimming the mile (1,650 freestyle) for the first time this season, Lourdes Manderfield (17:45.00) took the gold while Morgan Sokol (18:05.80) finished in third.
Reigning MAC Swimmer of the Week Samia Becdach (1:52.50) won the 200 freestyle, while teammates Taylor Devorace (1:53.16) and Ava Vial (1:55.12) followed in second and third.
In the 50-yard events, Alexandra Johnson (27.35) and Lily Kaiser (28.46) took the top spots in the backstroke, and Grace Perlberg (31.00), Madison Bond (31.25) and Abigail Dolliver (31.65) swept the podium in the breaststroke.
Fabiana D'Ambrogio (57.32) and McNichols (57.64) took the top two marks in the 100 butterfly, while McNicol (24.21), Sierra Newton (25.05) and Devorace went 1-2-3 in the 50 freestyle.
The Falcons proceeded to sweep the podium in the next three events, with McNicol (52.97), Becdach (58.92) and Perlberg (1:06.08) winning the 100 freestyle, 100 backstroke and 100 breaststroke, respectfully.
Blanca Sanz (5:12.23) and Manderfield (5:14.99) took second and third in the 500 freestyle, while BGSU placed 1-2-3 in the 50 butterfly with Becdach (26.48) leading the way again.
Vial (4:29.37) wrapped things up on the individual end with a first-place finish in the 400 IM, and the quartet of Becdach, Devorace, McNichols and Karina Solera ended on a high note by winning the 200-freestyle relay with a mark of 1:38.30.
Elise Snyder qualified for NCAA Diving Zones in the one and three-meter with scores of 289.5 and 307.35, respectfully, while Evie Long earned a spot at Zones in the one-meter with a mark of 281.70. Snyder's 307.35 was the first time she has ever scored over 300 points in a diving event.
