Falcons Soar South For Super Bowl Sunday Scuffle With Ragin' Cajuns

BGSU-Louisiana Set For 3 p.m. EST Tip In MAC-Sun Belt Challenge
LAFAYETTE, La. - The Bowling Green State University men's basketball team will head south for the second leg of the MAC-Sun Belt Challenge on Sunday (Feb. 11), facing the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns. The game comes exactly three months after the first meeting in the challenge for BGSU, topping Arkansas State, 81-75, on Nov. 11. BGSU and Louisiana are set for a 3 p.m. EST tip on Sunday. The game will be broadcasted on ESPN+ with a radio stream available through WFRO Eagle 99.Â
Opening Tip
The Falcons and Ragin' Cajuns will be meeting for the first time in program history, making Louisiana the 320th unique opponent for the Falcons during the history of the program and the fourth new addition this season. The matchup will feature the top scorers from the MAC and Sun Belt Conference. BGSU's Marcus Hill leads the MAC (21.5 points per game) and Louisiana's Kobe Julien leads the SBC (18.5). The game will also be BGSU's first game in the state of Louisiana since facing LSU on Nov. 8, 2019.

Scouting The Ragin' Cajuns
Louisiana enters the game coming off a loss to Georgia State on Wednesday (Feb. 7). The loss to the Panthers snapped a seven-game winning streak for Louisiana as well as a five-game home winning streak. For the year, the Ragin' Cajuns are 15-9 overall and 9-2 when playing at home while being 8-4 within the Sun Belt Conference. In their first MAC-Sun Belt Challenge game, Louisiana lost 87-78 to Toledo. Louisiana has also topped Arkansas State twice this season, the opponent for BGSU during the first round of MAC-Sun Belt Challenge games.Â
Hill's 20-Point StreakÂ
Marcus Hill has scored 20+ points in eight straight games for the Falcons, a stretch that goes back to Jan. 13. The streak of eight-straight is tied for the longest 20-point streak in the nation this year. Both North Carolina's RJ Davis and Northern Colorado's Saint Thomas have logged eight-straight 20-point games this year, but Hill's is the only streak of the bunch currently active.
Agee's Strong Stretch
During the last 15 games, Rashaun Agee has put on a clinic in the paint for the Falcons. In the last 15 games, Agee has tallied 11 double-doubles, moving into a tie for 15th in the nation for the stat. During those double-doubles, he's also recorded three 20-point games as well as the top three rebounding games for BGSU this season. Agee is in the midst of three straight double-doubles for the third time this season. The last Falcon to have four straight double-doubles was Damajeo Wiggins during the 2018-19 campaign.Â
Agee, Hill On Record Book Watch
Both Rashaun Agee and Marcus Hill are nearing the Top 10 in the record book for single-season stats. So far this season, Agee has tallied 213 rebounds for the Falcons and needs 86 more to enter the record book. He needs to reach 299 to break into the Top 10 all-time for rebounds in a single-season, trailing Rex Leach's 1956-57 campaign. As for Hill, he has 495 points this year and needs 600 to enter a three-way tie for ninth all-time, 601 for eighth and 604 for seventh. He is currently 105 points away from the list.Â
Spurgin Eyes 1,000-Point Club
Jason Spurgin is closing in on reaching 1,000 career points, currently with 937. Spurgin needs just 63 to join the club and is currently averaging 11.5 points per game with eight games left in the regular season. With Bowling Green, Spurgin has tallied 265 points this season. Before BGSU, he recorded 672 points over three seasons with Southern Utah.Â
