April 10, 2024 | Football
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Bowling Green football players ILB Darren Anders, OLB Demetrius Hardamon and WR Austin Osborne earned NFF Hampshire Honor Society membership, as announced by the National Football Foundation & College Football Hall of Fame. To earn membership a football student-athlete must maintain a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout his college career. BGSU is one of 10 MAC teams to place at least one student-athlete to earn the honor.
Other qualifications for membership in the NFF Hampshire Honor Society include: Being a starter or a significant contributor in the last year of eligibility at an NCAA FBS, FCS, Division II, Division III or an NAIA college or university or a graduated student-athlete at least three removed from high school; achieving a 3.2 cumulative grade point average throughout the entire course of undergraduate study; and meeting all NCAA/NAIA-mandated progress toward degree requirements.
Anders (North Olmsted, Ohio) led BGSU with 84 tackles, tied for the team lead with 10.5 tackles for loss and had 4.5 sacks. He also broke up two passes and recovered two fumbles, earning second-team All-MAC honors. Anders appeared in 54 career games which is tied for No. 2 all-time in program history. His 360 career tackles rank No. 8 all-time at Bowling Green. Anders also earned first-team All-MAC honors in 2021 after leading the league in tackles.
Hardamon (Beavercreek, Ohio) started BGSU's first three games before suffering a season-ending injury at No. 2 Michigan. He made 6.0 sacks in 2022 and was a Campbell Trophy semifinalist in 2023.
Osborne (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) was a two-time Academic All-MAC honoree after appearing in 29 career games with BGSU. Finished his BGSU career with 95 receptions for 867 yards and two touchdowns.
BGSU has had a Falcon earn the honor four years in a row. Presley Motes earned the honor in 2021 while James Carolan, Jordan Murphy, Matt Naranjo and Nate Needham took honors in 2022. Last year Mason Lawler, Matt McDonald and Jake Rogers received accolades.
