BGSU women’s soccer will play eight matches at Cochrane Stadium this fall
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Bowling Green State University women's soccer coach Chris Fox has announced his team's schedule for the 2024 season. The Falcons will play a 17-match regular-season slate that includes eight contests inside the friendly confines of Cochrane Stadium.
The Falcons' non-conference slate includes home contests against Detroit Mercy, Findlay and Oakland, while BGSU will hit the road to face Duquesne, Loyola Chicago and Cleveland State prior to beginning the Mid-American Conference schedule.
BGSU's non-league schedule includes five foes that posted a record of .500 or better in their respective conferences last season.
"We are excited about our schedule for the upcoming season," said Fox, who enters his first season at the BGSU helm after two highly-successful seasons at Morehead State. "We had a few challenges pulling things together, but it's finally complete and we couldn't be more excited to get underway. Our non-conference schedule should prepare us well for the regular season in the MAC where we know we'll need to be at our best."
The regular season opens when UDM comes to Cochrane on Thursday, Aug. 15. BGSU faces local foe Findlay the following Thursday (Aug. 22), before hitting the road for the next three matches. That road swing, which will take place on back-to-back-to-back Sundays, includes matchups vs Duquesne (Aug. 25), Loyola (Sept. 1) and Cleveland State (Sept. 8).
The Falcons will wrap up the non-conference schedule when Oakland comes to town on Thursday, Sept. 12.
Mid-American Conference play begins with a trip to Muncie one week later (Thursday, Sept. 19), before the Falcons renew the 'Battle of I-75' against Toledo at Cochrane on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 22. In addition to the Rockets, the conference home schedule includes matchups with Ohio (Sept. 26), Northern Illinois (Oct. 5), Buffalo (Oct. 13) and Eastern Michigan (Oct. 24), and the league road slate includes trips to Miami (Sept. 29), Western Michigan (Oct. 10), Central Michigan (Oct. 18), Akron (Oct. 27) and Kent State (Oct. 31), in addition to the BSU contest.
The MAC Tournament begins with quarterfinal-round matches on Nov. 3, with the semifinals scheduled for Nov. 7 and the final slated for Nov. 10.
