Falcons Beat Miami (OH) for First Conference Duals Win Since 2022

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -- The BGSU swim and dive team competed in a dual against the University of Miami (OH) today at Cooper Pool. The Falcons were victorious in the meet, beating the Redhawks by a score of 131-112.Â
"Today was electric! The ladies believed in themselves and defended our home pool." said head coach Tanner Barton. "It was a true TEAM effort and a testament to the work this staff and these ladies have been putting in behind the scenes."Â
BGSU opened the day with a win in the 200 yard medley relay, with Emily McNicol, Lauren Jablonski, Karina Solera and Samia Becdach finishing with a time of 1:43.50. The Falcons followed up with Natalia Mayorga taking first in the 3 meter diving, finishing with a score of 310.05.Â
Corine Rieskamp finished first in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:54.49 earning nine team points in the event, followed by Samia Becdach finishing first in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 23.52, giving the Falcons a commanding lead through the first five events. Elise Snyder would then take first in the one meter diving event with a score of 266.10.Â
"Elise and Natalia both secured victories and NCAA Zone qualifying scores. Two of our freshmen, Corine and Lauren, also secured victories and made a statement during their first meet at home."Â
Samie Becdach continued her strong performance, taking first in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 51.29. Emily McNicol and Lauren Jablonski won the 100 yard backstroke and the 100 yard breaststroke respectively, continuing the Falcons dominance in the sprint events.Â
Corine Rieskamp also continued her strong performance, finishing second in the 100 yard breaststroke just behind Lauren Jablonski.Â
With Saturday's victory, the Falcons earned their first conference win in a dual match since 2022, defeating the Redhawks that were predicted to finish tied for second in the MAC preseason poll. BGSU swim and dive will enjoy a couple of weeks off from competition before taking on Eastern Michigan at Cooper Pool on Nov. 7 at 6 pm.Â
