BGSU Defeats Eastern Michigan for the Second Time in Program History
November 07, 2025 | General, Women's Swimming & Diving
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Bowling Green women's swimming and diving made history Friday night, defeating Eastern Michigan 161-139 at Cooper Pool. The Falcons (7-0, 2-0) earned just their second-ever win against the Eagles, improving on a 1-17 all-time record entering the meet.
"To think that our program hadn't secured a conference victory since 2022, and now we have two—it's a testament to the work they've been putting in this season and last season," head coach Tanner Barton said. "It's really paying off, and the ladies are racing well."
BGSU opened the meet with a win in the 400-yard medley relay, as Emily McNicol, Lauren Jablonski, Grace Bodrock and Samia Becdach clocked a 3:45.88 finish. On the boards, senior Natalia Mayorga swept both diving events, winning the 1-meter (275.93) with an NCAA Zone qualifying score and 3-meter (306.08).
"Natalia faced her toughest competition yet," Barton said. "She stayed locked in through warmups and both events, and her first-place points were huge for us."
The Falcons continued to roll in the pool. Taylor Devorace took the 200 freestyle (1:54.49), while McNicol claimed victories in both the 100 (55.54) and 200 backstroke (2:02.72).
Bodrock emerged with a strong performance as well. She swept both butterfly events, winning the 200 (2:04.28) and 100 (56.26).
"She's been disciplined in workouts," Barton said. "Her senior leadership and performance in those fly events made a real difference in the meet."
Becdach added wins in the 50 (23.51) and 100 freestyle (51.38) and placed second in the 200 IM (2:08.37) to help seal the meet.
Bowling Green, in the midst of one of their best starts in program history, will host UTRGV on Nov. 14 and 15 at Cooper Pool.
