BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University volleyball team returned home to the Stroh Center on Friday night (Nov. 7), hosting the Akron Zips. The Falcons and Zips battled for three sets with Akron coming away with a 3-0 final score. For Bowling Green, the loss moves them to 13-14 on the season while being 7-8 in MAC play with three matches remaining in the regular season. The Falcons and Zips will be back in action Saturday night (Nov. 8) for Senior Night. The match is set for a 4 p.m. start with Senior Night festivities following the match.Â

How It HappenedÂ
Set 1: Akron 25, Bowling Green 20
- Akron opened the set with a 3-1 start, but the Falcons later tallied a 3-0 run to move out in front with a 6-5 score.
- The Zips responded with a 4-0 run to reclaim the lead, 9-6. The two teams traded points from there to the media timeout with a 15-11 Akron lead.
- Two more Akron points after the timeout stretched their lead to 17-11 with a BGSU timeout. The Falcons ended the run, but two more followed for the Zips, making it a 4-1 stretch to force the second Bowling Green timeout of the set with a 19-12 score.
- The two teams traded points until a 5-1 stretch for the Falcons cut the deficit down to 24-20 with an Akron timeout.
- Out of the timeout a kill for Akron gave them the first set, 25-20.
Set 2: Akron 25, Bowling Green 20
- The Falcons began the second set with a 3-1 lead, but a 5-0 run for Akron came in response to swing the score to 6-3 Zips. A 3-0 run for Bowling Green followed for a 6-6 tie.
- Akron moved in front, but the Falcons battled back to tie it up at 11-11. Akron tallied a point, but a 3-0 BGSU run put Bowling Green in front, rolling into a 15-14 lead at the media timeout.
- The teams traded points until a 17-17 tie. The tie moved to 19-19, but a 3-0 run for Akron pushed them to a 21-19 lead with a BGSU timeout.
- The run for Akron continued to a 5-0 stretch for a 23-19 lead with the second Bowling Green timeout.Â
- The Zips registered two of the next three points to finish out the set with a 25-20 score.Â
Set 3: Akron 25, Bowling Green 22
- Bowling Green opened the third set with a 3-0 run, pushing the lead to 6-3 in the early going. The two teams traded points until back-to-back for the Falcons made it a 10-6 lead.
- The back-and-forth continued between the two until consecutive points for the Falcons, including an Amanda Otten ace, for a 15-10 lead at the media timeout.
- Soon after the timeout, Akron put together a 3-0 run to cut the score to 16-14. The two continued going back-and-forth until Akron worked to tie the score at 20-20. The tie moved to 21-21 before Akron moved in front 22-21 with a BGSU timeout.
- The Zips tallied two of the next three points to make it a 24-22 score with the second BGSU timeout of the set. Akron landed a kill after the timeout for a 25-22 score.

Falcon Stat Facts
- Jessica Andrews was part of three of BGSU's four blocks for the match, giving her 443 career total blocks for the Falcons. The mark moves her past Lori Hilton for seventh all-time in program history.Â
- In addition to the block, Andrews was strong on the attack for BGSU, hitting a team-best .538 for the match. Andrews landed seven kills on 13 error-free attacks for the mark.Â
- Amanda Otten led the team in assists with 34 and tallied 10 digs, tying for the team lead. This is the second-straight match that Otten has led in assists as well as at least a share of the team lead in digs. It also marks her team-leading seventh double-double of the season. Otten added three block assists to her stat line, tying for the team lead in blocks as well.Â
- Avery Anders tallied 10 digs for the Falcons, tying for the team lead in the stat. Anders now has 150 digs this season, surpassing her 148 from last year for a new career-high.
- Sydnie Hernandez added 10 digs for Bowling Green, joining the trio of Anders and Otten for the team lead.
- Avery Hobson paced the team in kills with 12 while Edyta Waclawyczyk followed with 11 kills and six digs.
