Bowling Green Sits Fifth After Day One of Zippy Invite

AKRON, Ohio — Bowling Green opened the Zippy Invitational on Thursday with two top five relay finishes, closing the first night in fifth place with 156 points.
The Falcons placed fifth in the 200 yard medley relay, as Emily McNicol, Lauren Jablonski, Grace Bodrock and Samia Becdach combined for a 1:41.85. McNicol led off in 25.54 for one of the strongest backstroke splits among non-podium teams, continuing her consistent early-season form. BG's B-relay also scored, finishing 11th in 1:44.83.
Bowling Green followed with an 11 th place finish in the 800 freestyle relay, as Becdach, freshman Caroline Toledo, senior Ashley Fryer and sophomore Taylor Devorace posted 7:38.33. The Falcons' B-relay zz were just behind in 7:38.45, giving BG depth points.
Through four events, Akron leads the field with 218 points, followed closely by Cornell (206) and Buffalo (204). Bowling Green sits fifth with two full days of competition remaining.
