Bowling Green Heads East for Zippy Invite
December 03, 2025 | General, Women's Swimming & Diving
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio — The Bowling Green women's swimming and diving team travels to Akron this weekend for the Zippy Invitational, a four-day meet running Thursday, Dec. 4 through Sunday, Dec. 7 at Ocasek Natatorium.
The Falcons (8-0, 2-0) enter the meet after a strong third place showing at the Magnus Cup Invitational, scoring 1,128.5 points behind Akron and Northern Colorado. BGSU looks to continue its momentum in another midseason test, featuring prelims and finals in all individual swimming events, timed-final relays, and full diving competition on the boards.
Bowling Green will compete against a seven-team field that includes host Akron, Buffalo, Clarion, Cornell, Keiser and Youngstown State. Team awards will be presented to the top three women's programs at the conclusion of Sunday's finals.
Akron (2-1, 2-0), the defending MAC champion and meet host, owns several Zippy Invitational records and Ocasek Natatorium pool marks, including women's event records in the 100 butterfly (51.31), 200 butterfly (1:55.87), 200 IM (1:56.78), and multiple relays. The Zips also won this meet in 2024 and enter the weekend with wins over Eastern Michigan and Miami (Ohio).
Events begin Thursday evening with the 200 medley and 800 freestyle relays following afternoon diving. Prelims start at 9 a.m. Friday through Sunday, with finals each night. The meet will conclude with the 400 freestyle relay on Sunday.
After the Zippy Invitational, Bowling Green returns home to host Findlay and John Carroll on Saturday, Dec. 13 at Cooper Pool.
