ATHENS, Ohio – The Bowling Green women's swim and dive team suffered its first loss of the season Friday, falling 244-56 to Ohio in a Mid-American Conference dual at the Ohio University Aquatic Center.
Natalia Mayorga led the Falcons in diving, placing second on the 3-meter board (275.18) and third on the 1-meter (246.45).
In the pool, Caroline Toledo paced Bowling Green with a second-place finish in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:31.11). Grace Bodrock added a third place showing in the 200 butterfly (2:05.06) and helped the Falcons place third in the 200 freestyle relay alongside Emily McNicol, Sierra Newton and Annie Berrow.
Samia Becdach highlighted the sprints, finishing fifth in the 100 freestyle (51.50) and fourth in the 100 individual medley (59.94).
"Today was a rough one for us, but OU is a top program in the MAC," Bowling Green Head Coach Tanner Barton. "They'll rival Akron for the championship. Tomorrow is a new day and we're off to WV!"
Bowling Green continues its road trip Saturday with a double dual against Marshall and Duquesne at 11 a.m. at the Frederick A. Finch Natatorium in Huntington, W.Va. Marshall (3-1) defeated Duquesne (2-2) 223-187 on Friday, its first dual in nearly a month after a 172.5-121.5 win at FIU. Duquesne has dropped two duals in the past week, including a 165-135 loss to Buffalo.
