BGSU vs. Toledo, All-Time
Bowling Green and Toledo will be meeting for the 185th time with Toledo holding the edge at 99-85. During the Simon Era for BGSU, the series is tied 2-2 with the Falcons winning two of the last three. The last meeting came at Savage Arena last year on Feb. 21 and came down to the wire with a Javontae Campbell layup with 1.6 seconds remaining giving BGSU the win. Campbell finished with a team-leading 23 points in the game, adding three rebounds, three assists, a block and a steal.Â
Glover's Mid-Season Glow Up
Troy Glover II has caught fire on the boards and on the block for the Falcons over the last four games. Glover has led, or shared the lead, in rebounds the last four games for BGSU. He tallied eight against Kent State, nine against both Akron and Western Michigan and 10 against Eastern Michigan. The total has raised his rebounds per game from 4.3 to 5.1. He's also added an average of 8.8 points and 2.5 blocks per game over the four-game stretch. That's included a double-double against EMU and four blocks against both Eastern Michigan and Western Michigan.
The 70-Point Threshold
The Falcons' defense has played a huge role in the team's wins this year, holding opponents to 62.7 points per game and 39.1-percent from the field in games the team has won. The numbers have translated to a 70-point threshold on the defensive end. When the Falcons hold a team below 70 points, BGSU holds an 11-0 record this season, including a 32-6 mark during the Simon Era. However, when opponents eclipse the 70-point mark the Falcons are 2-6 this season. Similarly, BGSU is 12-5 when scoring 70+ and 1-1 when falling short of the mark.
Campbell Eyeing Scoring Milestones
Javontae Campbell is closing in on a couple scoring milestones for his collegiate career. Across his career at all levels, Campbell has totaled 1,891 points, now just 109 points shy of 2,000. As for his time in the Orange and Brown, Campbell has tallied 820 points, 180 shy of 1,000 for the Falcons. If he can reach 1,000 for BGSU he would be the first 1,000-point scorer for Bowling Green since Daeqwon Plowden ended his BGSU career with 1,618 points in 2022, eighth in program history. With 12 games left in the regular season, Campbell would need to average 15.0 points per game for the mark, but postseason points would count towards the milestone as well.Â
Campbell On Record-Breaking Pace
Through 19 games, Javontae Campbell is averaging 3.4 steals per game with 64 total. His average is currently leading the nation while his total ranks second in the country. Campbell is currently on pace for 104 steals, which would break not only his own single-season record for the Falcons of 90 last season, but also snap the current MAC record, set at 103 by Ball State's Bonzi Wells in 1997-98.Â
