Falcons Complete the Sweep, Cruise to 5-1 Triumph Over Bemidji State

BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bowling Green Falcons (14-6-4, 11-4-3 CCHA) completed a weekend sweep of the Bemidji State Beavers (9-14-3, 7-8-3 CCHA) on Saturday, cruising to a 5-1 victory inside the Sanford Center. BGSU picked up six points in the CCHA standings and moved into third place with 36 points, trailing Michigan Tech (36) and St. Thomas (42).
The four-goal margin marked Bowling Green's largest win in the series since a 7-2 victory on March 12, 2016, at Slater Family Ice Arena, and its largest win in Bemidji.
Ten Falcons recorded at least one point, while Ben Doran, Jackson Niedermayer, Jake Sloan and Gustav Stjernberg each posted two points.
HOW IT HAPPENED Brett Pfoh makes it 4 on the night for the Falcons
• Ben Doran got the scoring started for the second straight night, finding the back of the net 8:35 into the game. Gustav Stjernberg flipped the puck up ice from the defensive end, springing Doran in transition, and Doran finished the play to give BGSU an early 1-0 lead.
• Less than a minute later, the Falcons capitalized on another transition opportunity when Jake Sloan fired a one-on-one shot past the goaltender. Ty Higgins assisted on the play, with Rihards Simanovics picking up the second assist.
• Stjernberg ripped a power-play goal from just inside the blue line with 7:41 remaining in the second period. Breck McKinley and Tyler Hotson earned the assists.
• Brett Pfoh capped a 4-0 run with 6:47 left in the second period, scoring from just above goal-line extended. The transition tally featured Pfoh and Jackson Niedermayer exchanging passes, while Sloan recorded the second assist.
• Bemidji State broke through with a Kasper Magnussen goal at the 10:09 mark of the third period, trimming the deficit to 4-1.
• Dominik Rymon capped the scoring with 8:51 remaining, redirecting a Niedermayer shot to push the Falcons' lead to 5-1. Doran earned the second assist.

FALCON NOTES
• BGSU has allowed just one goal in each of its last six CCHA games and is 5-1 over that span.
• Ben Doran recorded at least two points for the second consecutive game and now has six multi-point games this season, tying Quinn Emerson.
• Jake Sloan tied his career high with two points on a goal and an assist, matching his performance against Ferris State on Nov. 14, 2025.
• Gustav Stjernberg posted a season-high two points on a goal and an assist.
• Jackson Niedermayer also recorded a season-high two points with two assists. The assists marked a career high, while the two-point effort tied a career best for the fifth time.
