BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University scored three goals on Saturday night (Oct. 10), and came away with three points. The Falcons defeated Drake University, 3-1, in Missouri Valley Conference action at Cochrane Stadium.

Sophomore Tyson McCoy and freshman Luciano Perez-Cernuda each had three points for the Falcons (4-6-2, 2-1-0 MVC), with a goal and an assist apiece. Freshmen scored two of BGSU's goals in the win, as Joshua Pedersen also found the back of the net.

BGSU has won three consecutive matches, with the last two coming in conference play.

Pedersen's goal, off of a pass by classmate Perez-Cernuda, came with just 3:04 gone in the match and gave the Falcons the lead for good. Perez-Cernuda slid a cross into the box from the left side, and Pedersen's one-time finish found the lower-left corner of the net.

The score remained one-nil for the remainder of the opening half, but McCoy and the Falcons doubled the lead in the 52nd minute. That play began after a long goal kick by goalkeeper Jason Ball. Ball (as well as the ball) found the head of Perez-Cernuda on the left side of the field, and senior Aiden Ptacek took several dribbles toward the center of the pitch.

Ptacek found sophomore Caue Ramos, who tapped a pass beyond the Drake defense into the path of McCoy. And, McCoy knocked the ball past DU 'keeper Tomas Butkovic to double the BG lead.

Perez-Cernuda put the Falcons ahead by three in the 73rd minute. After senior Joshua Saavedra thwarted a Drake pass near midfield, McCoy played a long ball ahead to Perez-Cernuda. The freshman attempted to tap the ball past the diving Butkovic, who had come off his line. The 'keeper got a piece of the ball, but Perez-Cernuda was first to reach it, depositing a shot into the back of the net.

The Bulldogs (4-5-3, 0-3-0 MVC) got a goal back against the 10-man Falcons with just 3:17 left, as Dalton Visconti's hard shot from the top of the 18 found the far corner of the net and spoiled the shutout bid.

Ball made four saves en route to the win, while Butkovic had three stops for the visitors.

NOTE OF THE NIGHT
• BGSU scored three goals in an MVC match for the first time in exactly a year. The Falcons' last three-goal conference contest was a 3-1 victory over Bradley at Cochrane Stadium on Oct. 10, 2025.
