SETTING THE SCENE / FOLLOW THE FALCONS
• The Bowling Green State University men's soccer team, currently riding a three-game winning streak, hits the road for a key Missouri Valley Conference matchup this weekend. Head coach Eric Nichols and the Falcons face the University of Evansville on Saturday evening (Oct. 17), with first touch set for 7:00 p.m. local time (8:00 p.m. ET) at Arad McCutchan Stadium.
TODAY'S PAGE-ONE-WORTHY NOTES
• The Falcons, as mentioned, have won three-straight games heading into the Evansville match. Most recently, the Falcons picked up a 3-1 win over Drake on Saturday night (Oct. 10) at Cochrane Stadium. The streak also includes a pair of 2-1 road wins, over Northern Kentucky (Sept. 29) and Bradley (Oct. 3).
• Heading into the Falcons' match vs. Drake last weekend, Drake was the top-ranked team in the MVC, according to the latest RPI rankings. Now, as BGSU prepares to face Evansville, the Purple Aces are the highest-ranked MVC squad in the RPI. UE is 88th in the nation as of Wednesday (Oct. 14).
• BGSU has scored multiple goals in three consecutive matches for the first time in nearly three years, since October of 2023. The Falcons have not scored two or more goals in four-straight games since September of 2021.
• That same September stretch (Sept. 14-24, 2021) is the last time the Falcons won four consecutive games.
