Homecoming 2027 Set For Sept. 18 Against Mercyhurst
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Bowling Green State University has finalized the 2027 non-conference football schedule for the Falcons, including the date for Homecoming 2027. The Falcons will host Homecoming 2027 on Sept. 18 against Mercyhurst.Â
The Falcons will start the 2027 campaign on the road, but in the state of Ohio as Eddie George marks his return to Ohio Stadium. Bowling Green and Ohio State will open the season on Aug. 28 in Columbus. The Orange and Brown will stay on the road for their second game, returning to Iowa State on Sept. 4 for the second time in as many seasons. The non-conference slate will continue on Sept. 18 with Homecoming and the home opener against Mercyhurst. Bowling Green will wrap up the non-conference schedule at Marshall on Sept. 25.
Bowling Green will open the season against Ohio State for the first time since Sept. 3, 2016 and the sixth time in program history after the two programs faced for the first time since 1992. Across the six meetings, this will mark the second time the Falcons have opened the season against the Buckeyes with the only other time being the most recent meeting in 2016.Â
As for Iowa State, this will mark Bowling Green's fourth time facing the Cyclones all-time and the second in as many seasons after traveling to Ames earlier this year. Bowling Green and Iowa State first met 1977 with the Cyclones traveling to BGSU. The two teams faced again in 1979, this time in Ames, which marked the last meeting until earlier this season when the Orange and Brown visited Iowa State on Sept. 19.Â
The home opener and Homecoming for the Falcons will be set for Sept. 18 against Mercyhurst, marking the first ever meeting between the two programs. Mercyhurst is currently set to become the 151st unique opponent in program history for BGSU and the first new addition during the 2027 campaign. Further details and information surrounding Bowling Green's Homecoming festivities will be released closer to the date.
The non-conference schedule for Bowling Green will conclude against former MAC foe Marshall on Sept. 25. The meeting will mark the first between the Falcons and Thundering Herd since an overtime win for BGSU at home on Sept. 17, 2022. As for traveling to Marshall, this will be the first trip for the Falcons to Huntington, West Virginia since Sept. 19, 2009.Â
The full 2027 Bowling Green football schedule will be released in coordination with the Mid-American Conference at a later date. All game dates and opponents are subject to change.
