How It HappenedÂ
- Bowling Green and Michigan skated the first five minutes with little offensive action, seeing just one shot on goal from each team. However, with 14:59 on the clock in the first period Michigan found open ice and converted a breakaway goal for a 1-0 lead.
- After a scrum in front of the BGSU bench with 12:50 remaining in the first period, two Wolverines and one Falcon were sent to the penalty box, resulting in a Bowling Green power play.
- It didn't take long for the Falcons to strike. Just 14 seconds into the power play, Dominik Rymon sent the puck towards the net with Jeremie Minville redirecting for the game-tying power play goal. Rymon gained an assist, joined by Ty Higgins in the feat.Â
- The 1-1 tie held through the end of the first period, but the second began similarly to the first. With 15:30 on the clock in the second period, Michigan scored to reclaim their lead, 2-1.
- Two minutes later in the period, Bowling Green was called for hooking. The Wolverines scored 17 seconds into the power play for a 3-1 advantage. Michigan later added another goal in the second period with 7:41 remaining in the period for a 4-1 score.
- Late in the second period, the Falcons were granted an abbreviated power play after 37 seconds of 4-on-4, but came up short on the attempt with the 4-1 score holding to the end of the second period.Â
- Both teams had a player go to the box early in the third period, resulting in a 4-on-4. Michigan was able to score a goal for a 5-1 score.Â
- The Falcons made a goalie change during the media timeout of the third period, but another Wolverine tally followed for a 6-1 score. Following the score, Michigan was called for roughing, resulting in a two-minute penalty, as well as a 10-minute misconduct for continuing the altercation.Â
- Bowling Green answered with 6:50 remaining in the third period. Max Martin connected on a goal in front of the crease with assists from Carson Campbell and Conner Levis to narrow the gap to 6-2.Â
