Treib, Kurtzweil Post CSCAA Cuts as MAC Championships Begin

AKRON, Ohio – The MAC Championships opened Wednesday with morning time trials and two relays in the evening session at 6 p.m. Bowling Green recorded two CSCAA qualifying cuts on the first day of the four-day meet.
In the morning session, freshman Bella Treib posted a 25.00 in the 50 backstroke time trials, clearing the CSCAA A cut by 0.34 seconds. Bridget Kurtzweil surpassed the CSCAA B cut during the evening session, touching in 25.92.
Championship racing began Wednesday night with the 200 medley relay, but the Falcons were disqualified because of an early start.
Following a 40-minute break, Bowling Green returned to the blocks for the 800 freestyle relay, finishing eighth in 7:31.99. At the end of the first night of competition, BGSU sits in ninth with 22 points.
The Falcons will resume competition Thursday morning in the 500 freestyle, 200 individual medley, 50 freestyle, one-meter diving and 400 medley relay. Preliminaries begin at 10 a.m., with finals set for 6 p.m.
