Falcons Improve on Day Two of MAC Championships

AKRON, Ohio – On day two of the MAC Championships, Bowling Green continued to build momentum, showing improvement in the pool while also opening competition on the boards.
The evening began with the 500 freestyle, where Caroline Toledo paced the Falcons with a time of 5:02.27 to finish 22nd overall. In the 200 individual medley, Bridget Kurtzweil (2:04.07) and Grace Bodrock (2:04.18) each recorded NIC B cuts, adding to Bowling Green's growing list of qualifying performances. Alex Johnson followed with a B-cut swim of 26.44 in the 50 backstroke time trials.
Bowling Green also found success in the consolation finals. Samia Becdach and Natalia Mayorga advanced to the B finals in their respective events. Mayorga captured the consolation title in the 1-meter dive with a score of 284.15, while Becdach posted a 23.27 in the 50 freestyle to place 15th overall.
Evie Long scored 219.90 to place 18th in the 1-meter dive, while Elise Snyder (217.50) and Claire Werner (212.50) followed in 19th and 20th, respectively.
The Falcons closed the night in the 400 medley relay, where Emily McNicol, Lauren Jablonski, Bodrock and Becdach combined for a season-best 3:42.41. The quartet placed eighth and achieved the NIC A cut to cap the day.
Bowling Green climbed to eighth with 55 points, leading Toledo by 14.
The championships continue Friday, Feb. 27, with preliminaries in the 100 butterfly, 400 individual medley, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke and 3-meter dive. Finals are scheduled to begin at 5:55 p.m., concluding with the 200 freestyle relay.
