BGSU returns home for Monday matchup with Wake Forest
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Thomas Weinrich scored with just over 10 minutes to go, lifting IU Indianapolis to a 1-0 victory over the Bowling Green State University men's soccer team Friday night (Aug. 28), in non-conference action at Michael A. Carroll Stadium.
Weinrich's goal came on a shot from just outside the 18-yard box, that sailed through traffic and found the far lower corner of the net. Santiago Sanchez had the assist on the goal for the Jaguars (2-1-0).
Each team had 13 total shot attempts and eight corner kicks on the night. The Falcons had a 4-2 lead in shots on goal. Peter Field had four stops to earn the shutout win for the hosts, while Enzo Gil made one save for the Falcons (1-2-0).
BGSU will return home for a Monday (Aug. 31) matchup with Wake Forest. First touch is set for 6:00 p.m. at Cochrane Stadium, and admission is free.

• The Falcons' starting lineup featured five freshmen and three sophomores.
• Sophomore Sawyer Wilbanks made his first collegiate start on Friday night.
• Senior Joshua Saavedra made his 2026 season debut, after missing the first two matches of the year due to injury. Saavedra came off the bench to play a total of 45 minutes vs. the Jags.
• Sophomore Tyson McCoy and freshman Luciano Perez-Cernuda each had three shot attempts on the night. Sophomore Caue Ramos had two of BG's four shots on goal.
