Falcons Conclude Non-Conference, Host Dayton and Missouri This Weekend

The Falcons Play Host to an SEC Opponent For the First Time Since 2023
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University volleyball team closes out its non-conference schedule in the Stroh Center this weekend. The Falcons are set to host Dayton on Friday evening and Missouri Saturday afternoon. Both matches will be available for viewing on ESPN+.

First Serve
· The Falcons round out their non-conference schedule when they host Dayton and Missouri in the BGSU/Toledo Invitational. BGSU is set to face Dayton on Friday night followed by a Saturday afternoon matchup with Mizzou.
· Bowling Green won took two out of three in the Xavier Invitational last weekend to improve to 7-2 overall.
· The Falcons begin conference play when they host Miami (OH) next Thursday and Friday as part of Alumni Weekend.
· Bowling Green's blocking has been one of the best in the nation to begin the 2026 season, ranking sixth with 97.5 total team blocks. Helen Wilford has led the way, registering 49 blocks which ranks 10th among the nation.
· Karli Molnau was one of two to be named BGSU Athlete of the Week after recording 41 kills on 93 attempts for a .344 hitting percentage over three matches last weekend.
DEFENSE IS ROLLING
BGSU has held opponents to a .158 hitting percentage through nine matches, with opposition combining for 337 kills and 161 errors on 1,116 attacks. The Falcons have held six of nine opponents below a .200 clip, including a season-low .127 mark by Ohio State. BGSU also limited Northern Kentucky to a .180 hitting percentage in the teams' first meeting and .145 in the rematch on Sept. 5. The Falcons' 509 digs have helped limit opponents to 11.60 kills per set.
OTTEN'S RECORD CHASE
Senior setter Amanda Otten continues to climb the Bowling Green record book in her final season with the Falcons. Otten has recorded 2,636 career assists and recently moved into sixth place in that category during the Rally Scoring Era where she surpassed Hannah Laube (2018-22). She is currently 90 assists away from fifth place and just 10 away from cracking the program's all-time top 10, a mark that would match Heather Greig's 2,646 career assists from 1996-99. Otten's career total also puts her within reach of the program's Rally Scoring Era record of 3,916 assists, set by Isabelle Marciniak from 2016-19. Otten's career-high single-season total came in 2024, when she recorded 1,179 assists, the seventh-highest single-season total in the Rally Scoring Era.
MOLNAU MAKIN MOVES
Sophomore Karli Molnau turned in a standout weekend at the Xavier Invitational, leading Bowling Green in kills in all three matches. She opened the weekend by tying her career high with 19 kills while hitting .424 in BGSU's 3-1 win over Austin Peay, then followed with 13 kills on .400 hitting in a sweep of Saint Louis. Molnau added nine kills against Xavier, giving her 41 kills across the three matches and 10-plus kills in six of BGSU's nine matches this season. For her performance, Molnau was named the BGSU Female Athlete of the Week.
ROVIRA MAKES FALCON DEBUT
Fetia Rovira made her Bowling Green debut against Saint Louis, providing the Falcons with another offensive option after joining the roster late in the preseason. Rovira brings a high level of international experience to the BGSU roster after competing in France in Ligue A. She also was a member of the France U17 National Team in the 2018 European Championship.
BGSU VS. DAYTON, ALL-TIME
Bowling Green and Dayton have met 22 times previously, with the Falcons holding a 13-9 advantage in the all-time series. BGSU is 7-3 against the Flyers at home, 5-4 on the road and 1-2 at neutral sites. Dayton has won the last three meetings, including a 3-1 victory in the teams' most recent matchup on Aug. 29, 2014. Friday's match will mark the first meeting between the programs in nearly 12 years.
BGSU VS. MISSOURI, ALL-TIME
Saturday's match will mark the first meeting between Bowling Green and Missouri. The Falcons do have experience against SEC opponents, most recently facing Texas A&M in 2023 at the Stroh Center. BGSU's last victory over an SEC program came one year earlier, when the Falcons defeated Mississippi State on Sept. 15, 2022. Two weeks earlier, BGSU bested RV Tennessee with a 3-1 victory on Aug. 27, 2022. With a win over Ohio State earlier this season, Bowling Green has the opportunity to tally wins over two power conference opponents in one season for the second time in the past five years.
